Summer is here, and that can only mean one thing: Rooftop Film Club is in full swing. With an unmissable July programme for Roof East and Bussey Building just announced, movie goers are in for a treat this season. From the Legends series, a showcase of films dedicated to none other than Samuel L Jackson, to a celebration of that iconic era of ’90s American Proms, there’s never been a better time to catch your favourite flicks against the iconic London skyline.
This July, indulge all your teenage fantasies with the brand new ’90s American Prom themed week at Rooftop Film Club. Always one to go big on themed nights, the Bussey rooftop will be fully made over with an iconic balloon arch and huge punch bowl, whisking cinema goers away to a classic American dance. Determined to make prom night extra special, Rooftop Film Club will even be providing transportation for one lucky ticketholder and 3 friends to and from Bussey rooftop in an actual limo, as well as prom food and drinks for the whole party. Keep your eyes peeled on Rooftop Film Club’s social channels for more information.
With screenings of Lady Bird (8th July), Perks of Being a Wallflower (9th July) and Jawbreaker (10th July) at Roof East, and Never Been Kissed (22nd July), She’s All That (23rd July) and 10 Things I Hate About You (24th July) at Bussey Building, it’s time grab your teenage sweetheart, don those prom King & Queen crowns and get in the ’90s mood. You can continue the party at home with our friends at NOW, where you can stream the ultimate Feel-Good Favourites collection throughout July, including 90’s classics Clueless and Notting Hill.
Fans of one of the most iconic actors of the big screen, Samuel L Jackson, are in for a treat this July at Rooftop Film Club with a series of films dedicated to the man himself. Kicking off at Bussey Building with cult classic Pulp Fiction (8th July), the month will also showcase Do The Right Thing (15th July), Snakes On a Plane (21st July) and Django Unchained (29th July) for all your blockbuster needs.
Those after some of the year’s most anticipated releases are in luck, too. Film buffs should head to Bussey Building for Norwegian black comedy-drama The Worst Person in the World on 10th July, and British sex comedy-drama film Good Luck to You, Leo Grande on 9th July. Other unmissable Hollywood hits include the biographical drama Elvis (27th and 30th July) and much anticipated Pixar release, Lightyear (25th and 31st July). Rooftop Film Club is never short of classics, either, with Dazed and Confused on 12th July, Kill Bill Vol. 1 on 15th July and Lost in Translation on 19th July, all at Roof East.
This summer, Rooftop Film Club will also be honouring London Indian Film Festival with a screening of Four Lions to kick off July on the 1st at Roof East. Head to the Bussey Rooftop for an exclusive Q&A with Four Lions cast member, actor and singer Preeya Kalidas, also known for her roles in Bend it Like Beckham and EastEnders. It’s one you won’t want to miss.
No cinema trip would be complete without a selection of delicious snacks. At Peckham grab a sundowner from the all-new cocktail menu at the Instagrammable Bussey Rooftop Bar brought to you by our bar partner De Kuyper Royal Distillers. Don’t miss their Margarita, Blue Lagoon and Kir Royale cocktails, plus special limited edition movie-inspired cocktails at select screenings. Make sure to pair your cocktail with an authentic stone-baked delight from the new menu at Share A Slice pizza, who will be serving up fave classics plus lots of new & exciting flavour combinations.
At Roof East, guests have the whole roof at their disposal. Grab a bite to eat at Naughty Burger, Raastawala, Piddaji and Treats Club and sample a whole range of drinks including wine, craft beers, soft drinks and mocktails alongside a specially crafted cocktail menu.
