FRAMELESS LONDON UNVEILS “STORIES BROUGHT TO LIFE” IMMERSIVE PORTRAIT EXPERIENCE WITH NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY

London’s leading immersive art venue, FRAMELESS London, is set to debut a brand-new limited-run experience this spring — and it’s one that brings some of history’s most recognisable faces to life.

Opening on 21 May, Stories Brought to Life is a collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery, transforming iconic portraits into a dynamic, multi-sensory journey through storytelling, technology and emotion.

A New Way to Experience Iconic Portraits

Hosted inside FRAMELESS’ Blank Canvas Gallery, the 15-minute experience reimagines traditional portraiture using cutting-edge digital techniques. Through animation, photography and immersive visuals, visitors are invited to step inside the stories behind some of the world’s most influential figures.

Among those featured are:

  • Queen Elizabeth II
  • Nelson Mandela
  • William Shakespeare
  • Amy Winehouse
  • Malala Yousafzai

Each portrait goes beyond the surface, offering a deeper look at the lives, emotions and legacies behind the faces we think we know.

Blending Art, Technology and Human Stories

The experience is part of FRAMELESS’ wider mission to redefine how audiences engage with art. By using immersive technology, Stories Brought to Life aims to create a more personal and emotional connection between visitors and the artworks.

Rather than observing from a distance, guests are placed at the centre of each story — a shift that reflects the growing demand for interactive cultural experiences across the UK.

When and Where to Visit

Stories Brought to Life will run from 21 May until 12 September at FRAMELESS London.

The experience is included within a standard FRAMELESS entry ticket, making it an accessible addition for anyone looking to explore art in a more engaging and contemporary way.

Why This Exhibition Is Worth Visiting

As immersive exhibitions continue to grow in popularity, this latest residency stands out for its focus on storytelling and human connection. By spotlighting globally recognised figures and pairing them with innovative technology, FRAMELESS offers something that feels both culturally enriching and visually striking.

Whether you’re an art enthusiast or simply looking for a unique day out in London, Stories Brought to Life promises a fresh perspective on portraiture — one that quite literally moves with you.
