Fortnum & Mason has unveiled the first release in its brand-new Amalthea Experimental Series, introducing a handcrafted Pineapple Rum that celebrates small-batch innovation at the retailer’s iconic Piccadilly distillery.
Limited to just 100 bottles, the exclusive spirit has been created for rum enthusiasts and cocktail lovers looking to experience something a little different, with each bottle distilled, filled and hand-labelled in London.
A Tropical Twist on Caribbean Rum
The inaugural release in the Amalthea Experimental Series combines craftsmanship with bold tropical flavours.
Fortnum & Mason’s distillery team begins by hand-cutting whole fresh pineapples, which are then gently batch-dried before being macerated in a carefully selected blend of five cask-aged Caribbean rums. The result is a vibrant rum offering natural pineapple sweetness alongside warming baking spices and delicate pastry notes.
The recipe was conceived and perfected by Arnold Harrison, one of the distillery’s skilled operatives, making this release a particularly personal addition to the new experimental range.
Designed for Cocktails and Food Pairings
The Pineapple Rum has been designed to work equally well neat or in cocktails.
Its tropical profile makes it ideal for classic rum serves and Tiki-inspired drinks, while Fortnum & Mason also recommends serving it with cloudy apple juice and a citrus garnish for a refreshing alternative.
