ELIZA UNVEILS SOOTHING NEW SINGLE ‘MAJOR’ AHEAD OF THIRD ALBUM THE DARKENING GREEN

Alt-R&B singer-songwriter and producer ELIZA has released her latest single, ‘Major’, a meditative track about shedding armour and embracing self-love. The song is the first taste from her highly-anticipated third studio album, The Darkening Green, which is set to drop on 4 March 2026.

Released just ahead of Valentine’s Day, ‘Major’ offers a reflective alternative to the noise of commercialised celebrations. Written from a compassionate place for a friend, the track encourages listeners to break cycles of self-sabotage and reconnect with their inherent worth.

“Are you not done? Suffered enough? So many roads that don’t go through hell. Baby, whatever you need to soften your shell. Aren’t you ready for love? You’re major, you don’t need all that noise for the world to hear your voice,” ELIZA sings, her hypnotic vocals gliding over a meditative beat, complemented by the bansuri (Indian flute) played by Hindustani musician Hasheel.

Written and produced by ELIZA with long-time collaborator Finlay ‘Phairo’ Robson, ‘Major’ follows the euphoric ‘Anyone Else’ and biting ‘Cheddar’, both of which received support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, Reprezent, CLASH Magazine, and Rolling Stone UK.

A Deeply Human and Earthy R&B Vision

The Darkening Green promises ELIZA’s most introspective and human record yet. Expanding on her signature earthy R&B sound, the album explores how our ecological and emotional worlds mirror each other. Across the record, the North London native navigates the emotional and spiritual journey of rewilding—from the messiness of love to the complexity of being human in a fast-paced culture.

In a conversation with Wonderland Magazine, ELIZA reflected:

“The album is sprinkled with my observations on the world and how I feel these and other aligning darknesses are affecting us in a global, local, and deeply personal way. The city wound, distraction traps, yearning for softness, jolting out of a zombie-like existence into cosmic memory and punk spirit… these are themes explored on this record.”

From Eliza Doolittle to Independent R&B Visionary

It has been eight years since ELIZA, previously known as Eliza Doolittle, left the major label system to forge her path as an independent R&B artist. Her previous albums, A Real Romantic (2018) and A Sky Without Stars (2022), earned critical acclaim for their spellbinding explorations of climate change, love, sex, and community.

Recognised by i-D Magazine as one of the UK’s rising talents, ELIZA now boasts over 720,000 monthly Spotify listeners and 33 million YouTube views for her COLORS performance of ‘Wasn’t Looking’, setting the stage for the release of The Darkening Green.
