World-renowned electronic music producer deadmau5 is kicking off 2026 with fresh sounds for fans worldwide. Following last year’s instrumental hit Ameonna, the Grammy-nominated artist returns with a new vocal single, “Science”, featuring London singer-songwriter Stevie Appleton, released today (February 20) on his label mau5trap.
A Dynamic Collaboration
Stevie Appleton, one of the fastest rising talents in contemporary music, brings his signature tone and melodic flair to Science. His vocals add a unique energy to deadmau5’ production, standing alongside the legendary producer’s previous vocal-driven tracks such as The Veldt, Raise Your Weapon, Bridged By A Lightwave, and iconic collaborations with Kaskade, including I Remember and Top 40 hit Escape (as part of Kx5).
“Steve sent the vocal through, thought it was neat so I made a track with it,”

Appleton adds, “I found there ended up being a nice simplicity in Science. There was a lot more in the song before I cut it down to just four lines, each of which I feel like carry a certain feeling. Is it a dark energy, a loving one? It’s a bit of a mystery, and I wanted to keep it that way. What deadmau5 has done with the production and the continuation of the songwriting is incredible. It should be a marker for the quality young producers are trying to achieve. I’m excited for the world to hear what we’ve made, especially the full 9.30-minute version—it takes you on a ride like a piece of cinema.”
