CODE VEIN II WALKTHROUGH TRAILER REVEALS SUNKEN CITY, NEW COMBAT SYSTEMS AND A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME

Bandai Namco has officially unveiled a brand-new CODE VEIN II walkthrough trailer, offering fans a deeper look at the highly anticipated action RPG ahead of its January 2026 launch. The latest footage takes players on a dramatic journey between past and present, expanding the game’s dark narrative and introducing new combat mechanics, locations and characters.

A Story Spanning 100 Years

The walkthrough trailer transports players 100 years into the past, where they team up with a new companion, Josée, on a mission to cleanse the polluted waters of Sunken City. As a Revenant Hunter, players must uncover the truth behind the city’s collapse while battling powerful enemies and confronting the lingering consequences of past mistakes.

Josée’s personal story plays a central role in the trailer, revealing a character haunted by guilt and driven by the heavy burden she carries. Her emotional journey adds narrative depth, while hinting at the epic battles and moral choices that await players in CODE VEIN II.

Exploring Sunken Pylon and New Combat Options

One of the standout locations showcased is Sunken Pylon, a vast and dangerous area said to hold the key to purifying Sunken City. As players explore its ruins, the trailer highlights seven distinct weapon types, including:

  • Agile dual blades for fast-paced combat

  • The devastating halberd, delivering powerful, sweeping attacks

These weapons further expand CODE VEIN II’s flexible combat system, allowing players to tailor their fighting style to suit different encounters.

Introducing Formae and the Ichor System

The walkthrough also introduces Formae, powerful skills divided into three categories:

  • Weapon Formae

  • Defensive Formae

  • Bequeathed Formae

Each Forma consumes Ichor, a vital resource obtained through the game’s signature Drain attack mechanic. Managing Ichor effectively will be essential for unleashing devastating abilities and surviving the game’s toughest battles.

Partner System Enhancements

CODE VEIN II builds on its companion mechanics with an enhanced partner system. Players can now seamlessly switch between summoning a partner to fight alongside them or assimilating their combat abilities for a more aggressive solo approach.

The trailer also showcases the Restorative Offering feature, allowing partners to revive fallen Hunters with recovered health. However, this ability comes at a cost, as partners enter a cooldown period where they are temporarily unable to assist in combat.

Character Creator Demo Launches January 23

Ahead of the full release, Bandai Namco has confirmed a CODE VEIN II Character Creator Demo, launching on 23 January 2026. Players will be able to create and customise their Revenant Hunter, with save data transferable to the full game at launch.

The demo also allows players to explore the MagMell Institute, experiment with Photo Mode, or unwind in the game’s Hot Spring area.
