London’s iconic Winter Lights Festival is back this January, marking a decade of spectacular creativity in the heart of Canary Wharf. From Tuesday 21st to Saturday 31st January 2026, the district will transform into a glowing open-air gallery featuring immersive installations from some of the world’s leading light artists — and best of all, it’s completely free to attend.
Since its debut, Winter Lights has become one of the capital’s most celebrated art events, putting light art firmly on London’s cultural map. This year’s theme, “DREAMSCAPE,” invites visitors to explore the surreal and extraordinary through interactive and playful designs bursting with colour, projection, and motion.
“Winter Lights started as a glowing idea to brighten the dark January nights and bring joy through art to Londoners,” says Pippa Dale, Associate Director of Arts & Events at Canary Wharf Group. “Over the past decade, that idea has grown into the capital’s most ambitious light art festival. This year’s DREAMSCAPE theme represents our boldest vision yet.”
Now entering its 10th year, the festival continues to push creative boundaries, offering an unforgettable visual experience across Canary Wharf’s parks, plazas, and waterfront. It’s the perfect winter escape for families, couples, and anyone looking to add a touch of magic to London’s colder months.
The full artist line-up will be revealed in December 2025, but if past years are any indication, visitors can expect awe-inspiring sculptures, interactive digital installations, and breathtaking visual storytelling.
