Brits reveal their guilty Twixmas habits including not washing, getting dressed or leaving the house

Brits confess their guilty Twixmas habits, with cleanliness falling by the wayside, as they admit to not showering for three days or more (25%), wearing the same pants for more than a day (50%), and going up to five days without leaving the house (21%)**.

Brits are all about living the slow pace during the ‘in-between’ Twixmas lull. Between December 26th and December 31st, Brits will shamelessly avoid getting dressed, staying in their pyjamas for a whole day, while more than half of us (55%) will spend a day or more in our jimjams.

According to the new survey commissioned by Sky and NOW, around two-thirds (64%) say their favourite thing to do is to stay home and watch their favourite telly in the period between Christmas and New Year. Some even fibbed to friends and family about being busy (22%) and instead would rather spend some quality time watching TV.

The research found that the average person will watch TV for five hours a day, equating to 30 hours in total and 1.8 billion* as a nation across in just six days. In fact, 52% will start and finish a new series within a few days and two fifths (41%) will binge-watch TV all day without moving.

What’s more, more than half of us (51%) rewatch our favourite series even though we’ve seen it more than once before. The Harry Potter movie franchise and Sky exclusive shows such as Game of Thrones and Sky Original titles like Gangs of London were all pinpointed as go-to choices.

Brits will also surrender cooking and feast on Christmas leftovers, with the average person surviving on them for breakfast, lunch and dinner for two days before eating anything else. A massive 44% even admit to eating leftovers straight from the fridge rather than plating them up.

Christmas leftovers and pyjama days aren’t the only thing keeping the festive feeling alive for Brits even when the big day is over. More than half of Brits (52%) will use Twixmas to catch up on all the Christmas specials and themed shows they missed while over a fifth (22%) will watch and rewatch their favourite feel-good Christmas classics.

“After a long year it’s clear to see that Brits are fully-embracing the no-man’s land that is Twixmas, and thankfully there’s some great telly to keep them company if they don’t fancy leaving the house, or even the sofa. It’s the perfect time to put your feet up and enjoy the best of what Sky and NOW have on offer – be that new series, classic boxsets or something you’ve watched before. So get your festive PJs on, snack on the leftovers and watch some cracking television.”

Jamie Morris, Executive Director Content Strategy & Performance at Sky
