Iconic shoe adidas Superstar that’s been rewriting the rules of street style will take centre stage this month, as adidas and JD host a live celebration at 180 Studios on Saturday 30th August. The event will spotlight the timeless trainer with London’s music culture, bringing together grime heavyweight Ghetts with a showcase curated by Rinse FM and DaMetalMessiah.
Rinse FM will lead the evening with an exclusive cypher featuring a line-up of emerging UK voices handpicked by DaMetalMessiah, known for his work chronicling the underground. Ghetts’ headline performance will follow, promising to channel the collaborative energy that has defined both the scene and the Superstar’s legacy.
Originally designed for basketball, the shoe was quickly adopted by the pioneers of streetwear and cemented its status in the late 1990s as the footwear of choice for artists, musicians, and skaters. Its history includes being worn by cultural figures across decades, with recent ambassadors including Jade Thirlwall and Ghetts himself.
Hailing from Newham, East London, Ghetts has been a leading figure in UK grime for more than a decade, from his debut Rebel with a Cause to collaborations within his collective The Movement. His live sets are marked by intensity and lyrical dexterity, qualities he will bring to the 180 Studios stage. Alongside him, Rinse FM and DaMetalMessiah will be presenting the next wave of UK talent, for a high-energy, beat-filled evening in Central London.
The event takes place on Saturday 30 August at 180 Studios, 180 Strand, London WC2R 1EA. Entry is free but spaces are limited, with tickets released via Eventbrite on a first-come-first-served basis. Early arrival is strongly advised.
