Where To Go Now: The Great Escape Festival 2022

We at Verge had the honour of visiting this year’s ‘The Great Escape Festival’ to present not just new talent but also underrated artists and bands who need to be heard. There were several outstanding performances, including Molly Payton, Arii Lopez, and The Vanns, as well as more major appearances by Arrdee, Dréya Mac, Piri & Tommy, and Cassyette. The Great Escape Festival is unquestionably a date to put on your calendar for next year, as we can’t imagine anyone not attending this enormous new event for artists to show the audience what they’re made of.

The Great Escape is a new music event with 500 upcoming performers from across the world performing in 30+ walkable locations throughout the city, as well as a pop-up festival site on Brighton Beach. It’s the first location to meet your new favourite band and see them in a more intimate setting before they headline larger festival stages. Unique Spotlight Shows, hidden performances, club nights, and unexpected collaborations all contribute to the fun and make this Brighton weekend one not to miss.

“Although similar to the new-music mecca SXSW in Texas, in many ways Britain’s equivalent event is better: more manageable, less brand-led and with just as many emerging talents, who play in tiny venues across Brighton.”
