Where to go now: Silverstone with Honda

As Covid restrictions begin to ease and the sun started to finally shine once more, Matthew Connell and Andre Dixon from Verge’s Alternative Sport team headed out to Britain’s most exciting racing event. The British Grand Prix at Silverstone has always been a weekend to look forward to but after a year without fans being able to attend, this one was truly special. F1 kept top safety precautions in place meaning over 140,000 fans were able to reunite over the weekend.

Not only did we get to spend a few days in the sun watching the best of the best, but we also got to travel to the race in the new Honda CRV. The exterior is stylish and feels prominent on the road whilst the interior offered easy access for both the driver and the front passenger to play with the 7-inch touchscreen system with sat-nav, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The drive was smooth and with great visibility which you got from sitting fairly high of the ground. The Hybrid model we were driving is super quiet when running on electricity, but the 2.0-litre petrol engine kicks in when you need that extra push like overtaking on the motorway. It was incredibly fuel-efficient, meaning we didn’t need to fuel up for the whole weekend.

After watching the unforgettable race you could tell that Lewis’ celebration was a true tribute to having the fans back – something he repeatedly says he misses immensely. We were delighted to see the drivers and the teams be able to interact with the fans again and we can’t wait for more.

A huge thank you to Honda for letting us test out the CRV – it was the cherry on top of an amazing weekend.
