Non-believers said it would never happen, but today, Burger King has announced that the Rebel Whopper has finally arrived in restaurants across the UK. The Home of the Whopper has officially bought its ticket and hopped on the plant-based bandwagon. The mantra Have It Your Way has never been more relevant, with flexitarians now given the choice to go the meat-free way, with all of the signatureWhopper indulgence.
The Rebel Whopper will be available to purchase in-store exclusively for those with the Burger King app on the 6thand 7th of January, before being available nationwide from the 8thJanuary. Just head into a local Burger King restaurant and show the BK staff the Rebel Whopper app coupon to be one of the first to try it.
The Rebel Whopper consists of a flame-grilled, 100% plant-based patty topped with freshly sliced tomatoes, fresh lettuce, creamy mayonnaise, ketchup, crunchy pickles, and sliced white onions on a toasted sesame seed bun. The patty is made from sustainably-sourced soy and was developed in partnership with the Vegetarian Butcher.
Importantly, the patty is cooked on Burger King ’s signature broiler, meaning it has all the flame-grilled goodness Burger King fans would expect of the classic Whopper. Again: all the Whopper, with none of the beef*. All of the treat, with none of the meat*.
What does make a big difference to animals and the planet is when non-vegans choose a plant-based menu option, enjoy it and then order it again. And that’s exactly who Burger King’s plant-based Whopper is aimed at, flexitarians who want to reduce their meat consumption for health or environmental reasons, or are considering going vegan.”
Flexitarians around the UK, rest assured – the Rebel is here.
