There’s never a dull moment in the Verge team and it seems like our adventures just get better and better! We headed out on to the world famous Silverstone track with F1 and had nothing short of a brilliant time. A weekend full of fast cars, stars, great racing, inspiring people and phenomenal experiences!
Ever had a casual drive around the Silverstone track at 200mph? We have, and let us tell you it was definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity. We had the chance to take part in the infamous F1 Hot Laps in a McLaren 720s Spider (not too shabby right) but it wasn’t a typical weekend cruise. Whilst being accompanied by a highly trained driver, our CEO took the track by storm and was probably the bravest out of all of us! After just one lap, which we could just about handle, we realised how intense the track is and also how we take our casual motorway driving for granted.
On a much more subtle note, we had a great truck tour of the course alongside experts and managed to give a quick wave to the fans waiting for the epic racing to begin! We got to explore every nook and cranny of the track and witnessed some of the hardworking teams getting ready for big race ahead! Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better we were then escorted on a personal pit lane tour which showed us inside the garages of Mercedes and McLaren and we got to ask some of the team officials all about F1 and how they operate!
What’s a great day out without some good food and great conversation? We had some delicious bites and drinks curtsey of Redbull/Toro Rosso at their hospitality section and it was one of our favourite dining experiences yet! We were then also escorted to the press area alongside the F1 Paddock Club for some more fabulous entertainment and we managed to spot some people that you couldn’t miss…
Around every corner and almost everywhere you looked there were tons of our favourite celebs roaming around ready for race day; including Black Eyed Peas, Geri Halliwell and Mel B of The Spice Girls, NBA star Chris Bosh, Tom Holland (minus the webs), 007 Daniel Craig and even Mauricio Pochettino fresh from the Tottenham grounds. Whilst being star struck at every glance, we got to have a brilliant chat with two members of Mumford & Sons and promise that we tried our best to not sing all of their lyrics to them.
We had a blast with the F1 team and had some truly unforgettable memories! If you’re not familiar with F1 we urge you to tune into the next race and get lost in all the magic that mechanical engineering can offer!
