What to wear now: The North Face – STEEP TECH

Designed in collaboration with big mountain ski legend Scot Schmidt, the original 1991 Steep Tech collection was truly ahead of it’s time. Constructed with high performance fabrics and packed with functional features, it changed the game.

Steep Tech was one of the brand’s first athlete-designed collections. Part of the nucleus of the “Extreme Team” featured in Warren Miller ski films, Scot Schmidt’s fluid style on skis made him an industry icon and helped inspire snow style for the decade to come.

As Scot Schmidt’s skiing style redefined the sport, with big lines and huge drops, the Steep Tech collection was shaping the look for technical city wear. It became an early favourite on the streets, evolving beyond the mountains to become one of the most sought after icons in the history of The North Face.

2020 sees the return of the collection, reimagined with a full head to toe look, with stand out pieces including the Steep Tech apogee jacket and the unisex long sleeve tee. Men’s and women’s pieces are brought to life with the hallmark bold colouring from the original big mountain days and now ready for the streets again.

The collection is available to buy from 24th October at https://www.thenorthface.co.uk/ in select The North Face stores and speciality retailers. To keep up-to-date on future launches follow @thenorthfaceuk on Instagram, and @thenorthface on Facebook.
