The 2024 season is expected to be an exciting one, as each team strives to close the gap to Red Bull in the coming year. Ahead of the start of the season, we are breaking down what you can expect from the teams.
Today, we will take a closer look at Ferrari.
In 2023, the team made significant improvements, finishing the season with 406 points and securing third place in the constructor’s championship, just behind Mercedes. They were also the only team to win a race other than Red Bull the entire season. Will the team be able to build and improve on these successes in the coming season?
The team enters the 2024 season with plans for a competitive car. Team Principal Fred Vasseur told the media in Maranello.
“Revolution – I don’t know if it is the right word because we have the same regulation now three years in a row that you can’t change massively the situation…….We are changing 95% of the components of the car. Perhaps you can consider that it’s a revolution.”
Team Principal Fred Vasseur
This season Ferrari also will have key changes in talent with the departures of Sports Director Laurent Mekies, engineer Eric Meignan, and Head of Race Strategy and Sporting Iñaki Rueda.
The Drivers
Charles Leclerc: Leclerc returns for his season with the team. The Monegasque finished fifth in the driver’s championship with 206 points (Who had tied with Aston Martin Driver Fernando Alonso who out-podiumed the Ferrari Driver, which gave him the placement ahead). Leclerc had a challenging season with three DNFs and six podiums.
Carlos Sainz: Sainz returns to the team in 2024 after a competitive 2023 season. The Spaniard finished seven in the driver’s championship and amassed two hundred points for the legacy team. Sainz was the only driver outside the Red Bulls to win a race this season in a memorable Singapore Grand Prix.
Robert Shwartzman: Schwartzman will continue as the team’s reserve driver in the 2024 season. The 24-year-old joined the team in 2022 as a test driver. He was promoted to reserve driver in 2023 after a successful Formula 2 season.
Team Principal
Frédéric Vasseur: Vasseur returns for his second season with the team next season. The Frenchman has his eyes set on steadily improving the car and returning the Prancing Horse back to Champions.
