what to eat now: OREO Taste of the Nation Tour

This week, the OREO Taste of the Nation Tour launches after enlightening research revealed that listening to music is Brits’ #1 favourite activity, yet the nation is divided when it comes to music tastes.

Whilst we are united by our love for music with Brits choosing listening to music as their favourite thing to do, beating travelling, going out for dinner and watching TV, we are a nation with our own unique, regional tastes. And OREO is on a mission to find out what songs connect us all.

Londoners have an eclectic music taste but love Hip Hop and Rap the most. Yorkshire and Humber on the other hand love Indie Music, which comes as no surprise with iconic bands such as Pulp, Artic Monkeys and the Kaiser Chiefs all coming from the region. Meanwhile, Northern Ireland showed the most love for House and Disco music and Scotland homes more Classical Music fans than any other part of the UK.

Although 58% Brits claim that music makes them feel connected to those around them, 53% of people admitted that they’re not fans of their partners, friends or families’ taste in music and even more struggle to choose what songs to play at group gatherings (60%).

The OREO Taste of the Nation Tour however will aim to change all this and uncover tracks that help bring people together in a fun and playful way, no matter their age or location. Popping up in cities across the UK including Edinburgh, Manchester, Cardiff and London, the eye and ear-catching, Oreo Taste of the Nation Tour Van will play tracks to connect music fans and allow them to curate the ultimate OREO Taste of the Nation Mixtape – a playlist of the UK’s most loved songs as voted for by Brits themselves.

Most Brits (66%) listen to music every day and a staggering 81% connect music to happiness. At each location of the tour passers-by will be able to pay homage to their top tracks by casting a vote for their favourite song to be featured in the mixtape. With 58% of people missing shared experiences the most during lockdown and nearly two thirds (59%) missing the buzz of live music, it will also be the perfect opportunity to let loose and enjoy as a DJ spins a selection of tunes across all ages and genres.

As a nation with such a strong love affair with music, those not on the tour trail need not worry about missing their chance to get involved. To make this a truly national mixtape, voting will also be open online via and fans can also have their say on @oreouki.

At the end of the tour, the top tracks submitted in person or online will be compiled to create the ultimate OREO Taste of the Nation Mixtape, which will be available to stream on Spotify and www.pressplaywithoreo.com. Just press play to listen to the definitive sound of the UK and hear our best loved artists from past and present that can bring us all together.
