Vevo, the world’s largest music video platform, announces the release of Big Tobz and Dizzee Rascal’s ROUNDS performance video of “Smoke.” This original performance franchise is the sister series to Vevo’s “Ctrl”, which previously released content in the US with A$AP Ferg, Rick Ross, Burna Boy, Common, Trippie Redd and more.
ROUNDS services the ever-growing urban scene in Europe by highlighting cutting-edge musicians, both emerging and established, who are currently impacting hip-hop, rap and R&B. Artists are captured in performance, with Vevo cameras using a revealing 360-degree portraiture effect. As these genres continue to evolve, ROUNDS shines a deserving spotlight on those whose work demands attention, allowing Vevo to work with a range of UK and European artists.
Over the last few years, East Londoner Big Tobz has enjoyed a meteoric rise. His breakthrough came back in 2015, in the shape of the insanely catchy ‘Uno My Style’, and he hasn’t looked back since. The Walthamstow resident grew up listening to US rappers 50 Cent and Fat Joe, but in his teenage years, Tobz’s attention quickly turned to the UK, looking to homegrown artists such as Dizzee Rascal and Lethal Bizzle who were part of a wave of artists laying down the foundations of the grime scene.
Dizzee Rascal has become a staple in the scene since winning the Mercury Prize in 2003 for his debut album, Boy in da Corner. In September of 2004, Dizzee released his second album, Showtime, his first Top Ten hit in the U.K. Between the release of the two albums, he set up a fledgling label for younger talent called Dirtee Stank. In 2009, he returned with Tongue N’ Cheek. One year later, Dizzee Rascal won the Brit Award for Best British Male Artist, while a collaboration with Shakira for the single “Loca” saw him enter the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for the first time. Jessie Ware, Robbie Williams, will.i.am and others landed on 2013’s The Fifth, a more pop-infused album that featured the single “Superman.” Summer of 2017 saw the return of Rascal on Raskit. Most recently, he collaborated with Big Tobz on “Smoke.”
“Smoke” is now streaming on all platforms. Keep up with original content from the best global talent on YouTube.com/Vevo.
