There are so many games planned to launch during the second half of this year and next year, so we have helped with this Verge guide of the top 13 most anticipated games for 2018/19. It was a hard choice with many stunning, fascinating and mind-blowing games but we have aimed to pick the best of the bunch.

13) Days Gone

On June 13th 2016, Days Gone is the next big open-world zombie action/adventure game. Along with the astonishing gameplay at E3 2018, Days Gone showed fans just how frightening and ghastly the Pacific North-West has become since the apocalypse.

Whilst avoiding the enemy zombies called “freakers”, the main character Deacon St. John, must withstand human survivors, as well as the infected nature whilst roaming the rustic scenery. These comprise of exceedingly threatening dogs, bears, wildcats, and even ravens all with the intention of killing you.

The game is a collection of genres and settings which meet head-on to create something uniquely unusual for players to discover and learn throughout the game. A realistic breath-taking RPG, a sprawling stealthy, a bizarre post-apocalyptic sci-fi universe with just enough excitement to make it a true undead-living nightmare for the fans to digest and enjoy.

12) Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

On June the 11th Ubisoft’s eleventh instalment of the main series ‘Assassin’s Creed’ was announced at E3 2018. We’re excited to see that it looks like Ubisoft’s year out is having an intriguing effect, because after a little more than two minutes in the gameplay shown in the trailer, it feels notability like a follow-up to Origins but raising the game’s features and graphics creating a setting that the series feels born for.

11) Forza Horizon 4

On 10th June, the fourth instalment of the Xbox’s bewildering and speed-racing exclusive ‘Forza Horizon’ was announced. Get ready to practice drifting over frozen lakes, muddy tracks and sunny roads in the new addition of the series. The Forza Horizon series is most thrilling racing franchise in gaming, allowing players the keys to the most exotic vehicles and operating them in a way that shatters every rule of the road in amazing  locations. This is a series that knows how to let players enjoy themselves. The game will be realised on 2nd October 2018 on Xbox One.

10) Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! & Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!

On 14th June, arriving exclusively for Nintendo Switch, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! & Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! is encouraged by the likes of Pokémon GO and alternative abridged monster RPG’s that came previously. 9) Shadow of the Tomb Raider

On 15th March Crystal Dynamics announced the third title in the rebooted ‘Tomb Raider’ series, Shadow of the Tomb Raider.  It is the new addition where the legend of Lara Croft will continue to what might be considered the end of her true origin story. It features every single character and stage the series has ever included, alongside a few new ones, plus some all-embracing tweaks to how the gameplay looks. The latest incarnation of the company’s lengthy, on-going, brawling and jam-packed franchise is now for the Nintendo Switch.

7) FIFA 19

On 9th June FIFA 19 is the next annual instalment in EA Sport’s FIFA franchise. The latest instalment will be the first one in the series to involve licenses from UEFA competitions, so tournaments such as the Champions league and Europa League will all be included in the game. With the World Cup over and the return of the new season, you can now experience the thrill of football and play as all of your favourite players and teams once again.

6) SOULCALIBUR VI

On 7th December 2017, BANDAI NAMCO confirmed that the sixth instalment of the ‘SOULCALIBUR’ series will return with familiar fighters along the side the appearance of new challengers. 5) Call Of Duty Black Ops 4

On 8th March 2018, Activision revealed a live announcement recap for the brand new game in the series. 4) Battlefield V

On 23rd May 2018, the next candidate in DICE’s blockbuster was confirmed. The first-person shooter series takes us to World War 2 with a prosperous solo campaign, historic multiplayer and surprisingly a battle royale mode.

The ‘Battlefield’ series is always known to show realism when it comes to how much wounds, bruises and hardship you can take. Realistically one or two hits can put you down from your enemy sights, while the afterlife can come from any path at anytime of your survival. The gameplay makes the player sense and be aware of danger and will keep your heart speed racing throughout the game.

3) Marvel’s Spider-Man

Announced on 13th June 2016, the game is shaping up to be skillful, fan-pleasing entry that could possibly live up to the next ‘Batman Arkham’ series as another of the outstanding superhero games. A few years after Peter Parker was magnificently infected by a radioactive spider, the game doesn’t waste any time to jump straight into the action.

For Marvel or Superhero fans, Marvel’s Spider-Man is an open world game with new side missions which will intrigue you all the way through the game and to be able to use the New York City’s skyline as your personal playground is dream come true to spider-man fans. 2) Fallout 76

On 30th May 2018, the award-winning creators ‘Bethesda Game Studios’ revealed the latest instalment to the popular and incredible post-apocalyptic role-playing series ‘Fallout’. The game takes place in West Virginia where the world has been ravaged by nuclear clash, a small group of individuals that represent the last piece of humanity try to survive the crisis. Players will arrive from Vault 76 to analyse an irradiated wastelands full of new mutants, monsters, and the desimated fragments of humanity. Throughout the time players will have the benefit to play by themselves or online with your friends.

Surprisingly, this is the first ‘Fallout’ game in the series to be multi-player and is constructed around group gaming. Players will have to face enormous amounts of blood and gore in combat using a variety of state of the art weapons ranging from sharp swords and steady rifles to portable nuclear warhead launchers. For all those gun lovers out there this is your type of game whether you’re a fan of the series or a newcomer to it.

1) Red Dead Redemption 2

On 20th October 2016, the wild west action-packed adventure series’ ‘Red Dead Redemption’ second instalment was revealed from the creators ‘Rockstar Games’, most-known from beloved and fan-favourite games ‘L.A Noire’, ‘Max Payne’, ‘Bully’ and ‘Grand Theft Auto’. The game will take you back to the Wild West and players will play as Arthur Morgan, an outlaw of a well-known gunslinger gang. A large addition of the gameplay will be based on an honor system, which will impact the way that towns and citizens react to player’s actions and behaviour.

In the original Red Dead Redemption, you could just grab a horse and be on your merry way to your destination, however, this time realism has struck the game hard so you will have to choose your breed of horse, spend time with it, feed it regularly and calm it in sticky situations to advance and improve your bond with your horse. The stronger your bond is, the easier your performance with your horse during combat or when galloping across the open land of wild west will be. Don’t expect life in the wild west to be sunshine and rainbows, the game constantly throws hazardous scenarios and missions at you to either get out quietly and peaceful or brutally and viciously.
