Verge’s Artist of the Week: Ariana Grande

This Halloween weekend our artist of the week comes to us playing the blonde bombshell in knee high boots in the music video for her new single “Focus”.

This single full of pastel colors, stars, and back-up dancers in purple crop tops, marks the first we’ve seen of her since she started working on her third studio album Moonlight. Introducing us to her seriously sexy new look and confidence as the words “focus on me” repeat through the background.

Ariana Grande has come a long way from getting her start in the Broadway musical 13, then landing the role of Cat Valentine on the Nickelodeon show Victorious in 2009. After 4 seasons of that show, and a spin-off called Sam and Cat she has moved professionally into being strictly a musician.

Though she sang on the show, her career really kicked off when she signed on with Republic Records and released her debut studio album Yours Truly in 2013 featuring the song “The Way” her collaboration with Mac Miller. She got even more popular with her second studio album My Everything, which included singles like “Problem feat. iggy Azealea”, “Break Free”, “Bang Bang feat. Nikki Minaj and Jesse J” and “Love Me Harder feat. The Weeknd”. Winning multiple awards like New Artist of the Year and at 2013 American Music Awards and “Best Pop Video” at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards.

Now, in 2015 she has released the single “Focus” with the promise of her new album out early next year!
