Now that 2018 is almost done and the party season is just beginning, we thought we’d contribute towards all your playlists by giving a little glimpse into what we think was the best Hip-Hop tracks of 2018. Now, we know the year is not yet up so there may be some sneaky new entries, but these 10 tracks kept us raving throughout the year!
TRAVIS SCOTT FT DRAKE – “SICKO MODE”
Travis Scott has had an amazing year, with “Sicko Mode” having it’s 8th week at No1 in the Hip-Hop/R&B Billboard charts and his Astroworld tour going ahead with full power, it’s only right that this track gets our top spot!
DRAKE – “IN MY FEELINGS”
There will probably never be a time where Drake doesn’t appear in at least a few of our top chart picks, but of course our favourite of his this year had to be “In My Feelings”. The video was just as brilliant video with appearances from LaLa Anthony, and who could forget the viral In My Feelings challenge that took over Instagram for majority of the summer! This song will be in our playlist for years to come, so it’s only right that we show some love.
CHILDISH GAMBINO – “THIS IS AMERICA”
Mr Donald Glover returned with a huge bang this year with a song/video full of truth, passion and perspective. Childish Gambino never seizes to amaze and with this video did just that and really opened our eyes to what’s happening in society – not only did he make us aware but he also managed to put it in a song that always starts the party.
KANYE WEST FT LIL PUMP – “I LOVE IT”
Kanye has had a very controversial year but his musical genius doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. This collaboration with Lil Pump kept the party going and there was nothing better than seeing all the video costume copies this Halloween!
ASAP ROCKY FT SKEPTA – “PRAISE THE LORD”
For this track the UK and US came together to create a song that both sides of the pond can sing at the top of their voices. New York and London never seemed so close with these two working together, and you probably heard this at every festival this summer!
CARDI B, BAD BUNNY, J BALVIN – “I LIKE IT”
Cardi B had an amazing year and her music did nothing but brighten up the charts. This collaboration record is definitely one for every occasion and will probably be heard throughout next year too.
KODAK BLACK FT TRAVIS SCOTT & OFFSET – “ZEZE”
This track was impossible to escape; from it being all over the radio, to cover versions swarming the internet. It’s tropical vibes are completely infectious and can make even the shyest person in the room break out into dance.
TYGA FT OFFSET – “TASTE”
Tyga’s come back this year was serious and “Taste” really set the tone for the great year that Tyga had ahead of him. This was played every where every day and we’re still not tired of it yet!
FRENCH MONTANA FT DRAKE – “NO STYLIST”
French Montana’s tracks always get the party started and “No Stylist” was no exception. A Drake feature never hurts and this one will be everyone’s Instagram caption for years to come.
LIL WAYNE – “UPROAR”
The long-awaited Carter V finally arrived and it was full of bangers that no one could deny. “Uproar” was a massive social media hit and gave us that Lil Wayne that we was all missing! Not to mention, if you can’t dance when this song comes on, best to just move to the side and be the audience.
