Verge Meets: RVBY

Introducing a new artist we’ve fallen in love with and recommend you definitely check out!

Bristol-based singer, songwriter and perfectly packaged pop specialist Ruby Donadel, aka RVBY has been carefully, quietly creating an amazing project following on from her debut singles L.O.V.E.Hanging On and Glow.

Listening to RVBY you’ll definitely feel inspiration from Maggie Rogers, Robyn, Sigrid and Dua Lipa, whilst also picking up references from classic trailblazers like Elton John, Cyndi Lauper and Madonna — artists who, like RVBY, always had a way of making real-life sound extraordinary.

She also has a keen eye for style and fashion, regularly switching up her look up with discovered gems from tiny independent markets whilst also being a massive fan of Kandi Cosmetics and Nasty Gal.

Did we forget to mention that she’s an awesome left-back? Yes…RVBY’s also has tekkers on the pitch, with a high profile football career under her belt.

Her new single ‘Wildfire’ released via independent label Funnel Music on 21st February sees the young songstress tackling universal sentiments such as love and loss and moving on through pain and is accompanied by a hand-animated video which she shot herself.

We’ve been watching her for a while and asked her to send us a little something…. She obliged with a lo-fi cover of Dua Lipa’s ‘Don’t Start Now’ shot at Croydon’s legendary Fairfield Halls’

You can check RVBY out on instagram here – her Spotify playlists are also a must-listen…thank us later!
