One of PLAYBOY Magazine’s favorite new cover girls and MAXIM’s hottest overnight sensation, Becky Hudson, is quickly becoming the new “it girl” of 2018 amassing almost 800,000 Instagram followers in less than a year. Known for her modeling, fitness and love of cosmetology, Becky is truly a one-of-a-kind success story. We met up with Becky to discuss her secret to overnight success, her career as a model, exclusive fitness tips, dating, and more.
What made you want to be a model?
I fell into modeling very organically. I began modeling fairly recently by industry standards, I would say over the past 2 years. I just love the confidence it gave me. I never “wanted” to be a model before, but once photographers and magazines began reaching out to shoot and feature me, I absolutely fell in love with this career.
As we know you have become the new ‘it girl’ of 2018 surpassing over 800,000 Instagram followers in less than a year, did you imagine or expect to be this successful?
I never imagined that I would gain such a mass amount of followers in such a short time! It’s still pretty crazy to me, but I truly adore all of my followers and fans!
What is the key to be a model?
CONFIDENCE IS KEY! I love that we are living in a time where the industry standards have been thrown out the window! There is a lot more diversity than even 5 years ago and there is one thing all of these models that are different shapes, sizes and colors have, and that is without a doubt confidence.
You participated in competitive cheerleading for 12 years, how did you feel with the experience and hard-work of competitive cheerleading?
You know, being a cheerleader for so long and doing it competitively really taught me great discipline. I loved being able to work on various routines and then competing throughout the year to show everyone what my squad and I could do.
Tell us about your routine, are there certain things you do every day to keep you at the best?
My days and weeks are always different, so I don’t have a standard every day routine. I might have a string of days that are super crazy with photoshoots, events, and meetings, but I always try to find time to work out in some way, shape, or form because I love being active, and my workouts change to fit my mood.
With January coming around everyone is due to be going on all types of health crazes, do you have any recommendations for keeping fit and staying healthy?
My strongest recommendation is to first ask yourself “What do I want to get out of this?” Once you have that answer, look for something that works with you, your schedule, and is fun. For me I got into cheerleading at a young age, so I love doing various cardio workouts, yoga, pilates, and core workouts. It’s also fun to work out with a friend or S/O, because they can be your biggest cheerleader.
What is the key to fitness and self-care?
The key to fitness and self-care for me is a variety of workouts, and also rewards! I like to work hard, and I also like to reward myself. When it comes to self-care, it doesn’t have to be an actual gift you buy for yourself, it can be as simple as taking time for you telling yourself you are beautiful and that you deserve everything you’re working towards.
What inspires you to be a model?
Once I began posting on social media, I just fell in love with modeling and the confidence it gave me!
How did it feel being named one of playboy magazine’s favorite girls?
It’s an amazing feeling that still hasn’t left me today!
Any tips for students that want to get into modelling
My advice to any aspiring models is to embrace who you are and own that. Confidence is key and never change what you love about yourself to try and fit someone else’s standard! That’s like trying to fit a round peg into a square hole.
