Verge Loves: Sylvan Esso

Sylvan Esso are an electro-pop duo from Durham, North Carolina with a quirky sound that combines folk and indie.

With vocals from Amelia Meath, formerly of Mountain Man, and Nick Sanborn, formerly of Megafaun, they create a sound that is all their own. Between 2012 and 2013, they recorded their debut album entirely from Sanborn’s bedroom.

After the release of “Sylvan Esso” in May 2014, they made great strides. In July 2014 they performed their song “Coffee” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and on 26 February 2015 they performed at The Scala in London. We expect even bigger things to come from them soon.

Here at Verge we particularly love the tracks “Play It Right”, “H.S.K.T”, and “Hey Mami”.

If you’re interested in seeing them perform, you’re in luck. They’re currently on tour and will make stops in Brighton, Manchester, and Bristol in early June.
