The new product launch is perfectly timed, as the desire for healthy, plant-based snack options is high and health and well-being has become even more important post lockdown. 95% of adults snack and 39% say that busy lifestyles make snacking a necessity. But almost half of adults (40%) feel guilty about snacking and over a third of adults (36%) feel self-conscious eating unhealthy snacks in front of others.

According to Google, searches for snacks has seen a steady climb over the past five years, with its peak always being in the first week of January. However, May 2020 (the height of lockdown) saw the search term reach its highest peak since 2015. Around this time, the search term for ‘healthy snacks’ was also high and compared to its usual spikes has remained higher than usual. Related search terms include ‘healthy late night snacks’, ‘healthy snacks for weight loss’, ‘healthy filling snacks’ and ‘healthy low fat snacks’ proving a strong appetite for health conscious snacking options.

New Snack Bites are available now in Morrisons’ free-from chilled aisle, and in Tesco’s plant-based chilled aisle!
