One of LA’s most talked-about jazz pairings has announced an intimate show at Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho. One of only two European dates before the end of the year, Marcel Camargo and Jessica Vautor will play two sets on Monday October 2nd.
Marcel is known for his extensive work with Michael Bublé, also with Gretchen Parlato – as guitarist and Musical Director. He worked as a producer on Parlato’s Grammy nominated release, “Flor,” a Brazilian inspired record that harkens back to Marcel’s own upbringing in São Paulo, Brazil. He has worked with many other artists as well, including Macy Gray, Jason Mraz, Sergio Mendes and Herb Alpert and in feature films and TV shows.
Born and raised in Martinique, Jessica is one of the best kept secrets in Los Angeles. She is known for her work with legendary masters Stanley Clarke and Randy Brecker and regularly collaborates with acclaimed pianists Gerald Clayton and Vardan Ovsepian.
At the Pizza Express Jazz Club, they will showcase music from their forthcoming album, made in collaboration with the great Domenico Lancellotti. It is a mix of original music, Argentine Tangos, Bach pieces, Brazilian Sambas and Jazz Standards, all in newly reinvented arrangements.
Marcel said: “I’ve been to London many times in my ten plus years with Michael Bublé and I’ve played Pizza Express before with Bublé’s band. It was such an amazing, unforgettable night! I’m very excited to come back and showcase this new music I’m so proud of and to share the experience with Jessica Vautor. She’s one of my favourite singers in the world. I’m genuinely a fan of hers and I feel so lucky to get to make music with her.”
