PUMA and LaMelo Ball
The relationship between PUMA and Melo started three years ago, when the brand quickly recognized his potential and started a fruitful partnership. His rise in the NBA has been meteoric since then, with Melo being voted Rookie of the Year in 2021 and named an NBA All Star in the following season.
LaMelo Ball’s eccentric style and personality make him the exceptional talent he is, and PUMA allowed the Charlotte Hornets player to express all his creativity when designing his signature range. The MB shoes therefore reflect its creator: unique, inimitable, and high performing.
The MB.01 and the MB.02 became bestsellers for the brand, and an instant icon in the basketball community, quickly selling out its first drops in 2021. Every new drop since then (more than twenty shades) or collaboration (e.g. the MB Rick & Morty collab) was highly anticipated by thousands of PUMA Hoops fans who did everything to get their hands on the latest Melo releases.
ABOUT PUMA BASKETBALL
PUMA Basketball takes a culture first approach. That means shoes stylish enough to wear out — but that also perform at an NBA level. The fusion of court & street is our core principle that drives everything we do, or as we say: Made for the Street. Built for the Court.
Our mindset is already embodied by one of our own, Walt Clyde Frazier. Clyde himself gave us basketball culture as we know it – the style, the swag, the persona. He used the game as a platform to express interests in fashion, music, and entertainment – his footwear was an extension of this mindset and our inspiration to get back on the court.
PUMA returned to basketball in 2018, introducing a new wave of PUMA basketball athletes who are known for their play on the court and their personal style. The current PUMA Hoops roster includes Breanna Stewart, LaMelo Ball, Deandre Ayton, Jackie Young, NaLyssa Smith, Scoot Henderson and many others.
