The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is returning to UK and Irish arenas for a spectacular 25th anniversary celebration, bringing Peter Jackson’s iconic Middle-earth adventure to life alongside Howard Shore’s Oscar-winning score.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in Concert will tour Dublin, London, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham, combining the complete 2001 film with a live orchestral and choral performance.
With more than 200 musicians and singers involved in each production, audiences will watch the film on a huge 60ft HD screen while Howard Shore’s acclaimed score is performed live in sync with every scene.
Tickets are already on sale, making this a major opportunity for fans to experience one of the defining fantasy films of the 21st century in an entirely new way.
The Fellowship of the Ring Comes to the Arena
First released in 2001, The Fellowship of the Ring introduced audiences around the world to Frodo Baggins, Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and the wider world of Middle-earth.
Now, 25 years after the film first arrived in cinemas, the story will once again be experienced as a huge communal event.
The concert production pairs the full film with Howard Shore’s Academy Award-winning score, performed by leading orchestras and choirs in each host city.
From the peaceful landscapes of the Shire to the terrifying depths of Moria, the music will accompany Frodo and the Fellowship throughout their journey, with 239 musicians performing alongside the film.
For fans who first experienced the trilogy on the big screen, the concert offers a chance to revisit Middle-earth while hearing Shore’s extraordinary compositions performed live.
Five UK and Ireland Dates Announced
The production will visit Dublin, London, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham, with both matinee and evening performances scheduled at every venue.
The London performance at The O2 will be the largest UK staging of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in Concert to date.
Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham will also host the production for the first time, giving audiences across the UK and Ireland the opportunity to see the film accompanied by live orchestral and choral forces.
Howard Shore’s Iconic Score Performed Live
Central to the production is Howard Shore’s celebrated score, which helped establish the musical identity of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.
The music has become almost inseparable from the films themselves, with themes representing characters, locations and cultures throughout Tolkien’s world.
Shore’s work has also enjoyed considerable recognition outside the films, topping Classic FM’s Movie Music Hall of Fame for three consecutive years.
Hearing the score performed live while the film plays on a 60ft HD screen is therefore a key part of the anniversary experience.
Conductors and Vocal Soloists Confirmed

Dublin and London will both be conducted by Ludwig Wicki, who conducted the world’s first-ever Lord of the Rings live concert performance in 2008.

25 Years of The Fellowship of the Ring
Few modern film franchises have had the cultural impact of The Lord of the Rings.
Peter Jackson’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s work became a defining cinematic event of the early 2000s, with The Fellowship of the Ring establishing the visual language, characters and musical themes that would continue through The Two Towers and The Return of the King.
The trilogy’s influence has continued well beyond the original films, inspiring generations of fans, online communities, memes, merchandise, video games and tourism around the locations associated with the productions in New Zealand.
The success of the trilogy also led to Jackson’s later The Hobbit films, while Tolkien’s world continues to feature prominently across film and television.
Twenty-five years after audiences first followed Frodo out of the Shire, the anniversary concert provides another opportunity to experience that journey collectively — this time with a full orchestra and choir performing Shore’s score live.
