The London Dungeon is getting ready for Halloween with a brand-new immersive show inspired by one of history’s most infamous cursed artefacts.
Spooky season is officially creeping closer, and The London Dungeon is preparing to unleash one of its most chilling Halloween experiences yet.
Running from 17 October to 1 November 2026, Curse of the Mummy will transport visitors back to Victorian London, where a mysterious Egyptian artefact has arrived at a museum in London — and with it, a trail of supposedly supernatural misfortune.
The new show will be part of the standard London Dungeon admission, meaning visitors won’t need to purchase a separate Halloween ticket to experience the terrifying new addition.
What Is The London Dungeon’s Curse of the Mummy?
Curse of the Mummy is inspired by the infamous ‘Unlucky Mummy’, an Ancient Egyptian artefact that was brought to London during the late 19th century.
The story surrounding the mummy has become steeped in tales of death, financial ruin and unexplained disappearances, with rumours suggesting that anyone who came into contact with it could find themselves struck by terrible luck.
The new Halloween experience takes guests into the heart of London in 1889, where the mysterious mummy board has just arrived at a museum in London.
But this isn’t simply an archaeological discovery.
Something much darker appears to have followed it back to Britain.
The Story Behind the ‘Unlucky Mummy’
During the Victorian era, Egyptomania was sweeping through Britain, with Egyptian artefacts and mummies becoming highly sought-after among wealthy collectors.
According to the legend, the story of the Unlucky Mummy began in the 1860s, when four young English travellers allegedly returned from Egypt with the artefact after visiting the mummy pits of Deir el-Bahri.
What followed was supposedly a series of devastating events.
One traveller was accidentally shot and lost his arm, another reportedly suffered financial ruin, while others were said to have died in poverty or mysteriously disappeared.
As the mummy passed between different owners, the stories of misfortune allegedly followed it.
Whether cursed or simply the product of Victorian superstition, the legend has endured — and now The London Dungeon is bringing it to life.
Three Immersive Halloween Shows!
The new Curse of the Mummy experience forms part of one of The London Dungeon’s biggest Halloween takeovers to date.
Guests will encounter three immersive theatrical shows, combining live performance with sensory effects to tell the disturbing story of the alleged curse.
The experience will feature historical figures including Victorian clairvoyant Madame Helena Blavatsky, as visitors attempt to uncover the truth behind the mummy and the mysterious events surrounding it.
The attraction promises to explore Victorian London’s fascination with Ancient Egypt, the occult and the supernatural, while asking one particularly unsettling question: what happens when you disturb something that was supposed to remain buried?
