As we enter prime cold and flu season and endeavour to fend off bugs, it’s time to forget drastic immunity hacks and unsustainable health resolutions. Actimel has teamed up with Giovanni Pernice to create ‘Moves for Im-Move-Ity’; little daily dances which fit seamlessly around morning routines to support the nation’s immune system.
The campaign is backed by top immunologist, Dr Jenna Macciochi, who promotes the benefits of regular, moderate exercise such as dance, and other little daily habits, as a more sustainable way to support our immune system
It comes as research of 2,000 UK adults from Actimel – which is packed with Vitamin D for immune system support – revealed almost a third (32%) of adults are so keen to support their immune system, they’ve made a New Year’s resolution to do just that in the past. However, historically, two in five (43%) have only managed to maintain health/immune system resolutions for 3-4 weeks or less.
Movement has proven benefits for our immune system so Actimel has teamed up with Giovanni Pernice to create ‘Moves for Im-Move-Ity’; little daily dances around morning routines to support the nation’s immune system in a fun and sustainable way.
With January traditionally being a gloomy month where we put pressure on ourselves to adopt drastic new health measures and resolutions, with many failing at the first hurdle, ‘Moves for Im-Move-Ity’ is about making immune system support fun, attainable and sustainable, whilst setting ourselves up for success.
We all love a bop to our favourite playlist or radio station in the morning, so Giovanni’s ‘Moves for Im-Move-Ity’ has been created to inspire the nation to move more through everyday little dances. From getting out of bed, to brushing our teeth and leaving the house.
Giovanni’s ‘Moves for Im-Move-Ity’:
- Getting Up – Pillow Body Pop
- Brushing Teeth – Toothbrush Tango / The Floss
- Getting Dressed – The Suit Shake
- Grabbing Breakfast – Fridge Foxtrot
- Leaving The House – The Heel Click
Giovanni will also be teaching his ‘Moves for Im-Move-Ity’ at an exclusive public dance lesson at renowned London studio, Danceworks, on Weds 22nd February. Limited tickets available here.
Immunologist, Dr Jenna Macciochi, comments: “My ethos is that we need to move more, move more often and move in lots of different ways.
“Short dance routines like ‘Moves for Im-Move-Ity’ provide a great tool to do this, with potential benefits for our immune system; studies show regular moderate exercises like dance can reduce the risk of upper respiratory tract infections, including the common cold, as well as improve mood and reduce stress. It also improves immune regulation, delaying the onset of age-related immune decline.
“Top off your movements with an Actimel; packed with Vitamin D, which is something we all need more of in the winter to support our immune system.
“January has traditionally been the time of unattainable resolutions and drastic lifestyle hacks and we know that motivation for these things soon wears off. By cultivating little daily habits such as short dances around our morning routines, we can take the need for motivation out of the equation.”
Giovanni Pernice comments: “As a dancer, I’m always on my feet, with a busy – and exciting – schedule, so supporting my health and immune system is key. I am passionate about inspiring people to move more and adopt little daily habits which fit easily around routines, so we can maintain motivation. Stick on your favourite playlist or radio station and have a boogie as you go about your morning routine.
“For me it’s about the little accomplishments which go a long way and movements can be as simple or complicated as you like. I am excited to be able to show people first-hand at my Danceworks lesson”.
