London’s much-loved free summer festival Summer in the Square is set to return to Marylebone in 2026, transforming the usually private Portman Square Garden into a vibrant open-air cultural hub.
Running from 7–12 July 2026, the six-day festival brings together live Wimbledon screenings, immersive food experiences, wellness sessions and creative workshops – all free to attend.
Organised by Baker Street Quarter Partnership as part of the Make it Marylebone programme, the event is now in its 13th year and has become a staple of London’s summer calendar.
A Hidden London Garden Transformed for Summer
For one week only, Portman Square Garden becomes a sun-drenched retreat in the heart of the city.
Deck chairs line the lawns, winding pathways lead visitors through activity zones, and the pace of central London gives way to a relaxed village-style atmosphere.
The festival is designed as a free, inclusive celebration of community, showcasing Marylebone’s independent businesses, artists, chefs and cultural institutions.

Wimbledon Live on the Big Screen
Nothing says British summer like Wimbledon.
At Summer in the Square 2026, visitors can watch every rally, set and match point from the final week of the tournament on a giant outdoor screen, surrounded by deck chairs and summer atmosphere.
From Centre Court drama to strawberries and cream, it has become one of the festival’s most popular attractions – drawing both tennis fans and casual visitors alike.
Food, Culture and Marylebone’s Best Local Talent
Curated by Portman Marylebone, the festival’s food and drink programme showcases some of London’s most exciting kitchens and independent operators.
Highlights include:
- The Montagu Kitchen at Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill bringing open-fire Mediterranean dining
- Cafe Murano by Angela Hartnett serving seasonal Italian dishes
- Hong Kong-style French toast from Cantoast
- Basque-inspired tapas from Donostia
- Rotating street food village curated by KERB including tacos, burgers, poke bowls and gelato
The Home House Garden Bar also returns, serving spritzes and summer cocktails with a members-club feel open to all for the week.
Wellness, Breathwork and Creative Workshops
A dedicated Wellness Den, supported by Derwent London, offers daily yoga, Pilates, mindfulness and breathwork sessions led by expert practitioners.
The programme encourages visitors to pause, reset and reconnect in a peaceful green setting.
Key wellness sessions include:
- Breathwork with Home House (7 July)
- Mat Pilates with Nobu Pilates (9 July)
- Yoga and mindfulness sessions throughout the week
Alongside wellness, visitors can take part in hands-on creative workshops, including:
- Botanical scent blending with anatomē
- Watercolour sessions inspired by Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles, led by artist Andrea Tierney
- Cocktail masterclasses at The Churchill Bar & Terrace
- Salsa and Latin cultural evenings hosted by Home House
Family-Friendly Activities and Creative Play
Families are at the heart of the festival, with a dedicated children’s programme supported by Lazari Investments.
Activities include storytelling, arts and crafts, theatre workshops and outdoor play designed for different age groups.
Marylebone Youth Theatre Workshop offers interactive performances inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tempest, while younger children can enjoy sessions themed around The Wizard of Oz and Cinderella.
A Celebration of Community and Culture
Summer in the Square is the flagship event of Make it Marylebone, celebrating the neighbourhood’s independent businesses, hotels, restaurants and cultural institutions.
The festival also supports local charity The Passage, which works with people experiencing homelessness. Visitors are encouraged to donate throughout the week.
