StockX Launches Exclusive Product Release Method With J Balvin

This week StockX [the world’s first ‘stock market of things’] will be unveiling DropX, a new direct-to-consumer product release method designed to grant its community exclusive access to the products they love.

From 5pm StockX will exclusively release nearly 500 units of the limited-edition Funko Pop! Rocks: J Balvin “Green Hair” Chase Figure #136 [please note the link will go live at 5pm BST on the day] at a base price of approximately £30.

Balvin first teamed up with Funko Pop! in October 2019, releasing collectible toys in his likeness, but this inaugural DropX features a version that only those closest to the four-time Latin Grammy winner have had the opportunity to access until now.

 “I’m excited to partner with StockX to release this Funko figurine because they’re the best place for me to find rare items that I can’t find anywhere else,” said J Balvin. “It only felt right to release this with them.”


Designed to support StockX’s commitment to amplifying culturally relevant brands and creatives, DropX is the latest product release method from the leading resale marketplace. Intended to complement StockX’s IPO (“initial product offering”) drop model, DropX is the latest iteration of the platform’s innovative, digital-forward approach to releasing products directly onto the secondary market.

On the heels of the initial DropX collaboration with J Balvin, StockX will drop two additional releases as part of its inaugural DropX slate. On August 13, the platform will team up with London-based designers Carri Munden and Liam Hodgesto be followed by a drop in partnership with Tombogo, an experiential outlet for designer Tommy Bogo, on August 18.


  • 8/13 Carri Munden + Liam Hodges DropX
    • Entitled “Chaos Lost,” StockX’s second DropX will include 75 limited-edition t-shirts, combining archive Liam Hodges + Cassette Playa graphics and individual DIY customisation graphic packs.
    • The t-shirts, which will release at a price point of $100, come in a pack along with multiples of four different vinyl transfers and entry to a live, virtual customization workshop with both designers, who will discuss their views on London culture and style on August 22nd.


  • 8/18 Tomobogo DropX
    • The Tombogo DropX will feature 10 cargo caps in collaboration with New Era, accompanied by patches for customization. The caps will release at a starting price point of $120 and will scale up to $150.
