Start Your School Year Off Right

With universities starting back up, many university students are planning on making the most out of their year.  If you are one of the individuals who has NO idea where to start, there are plenty of ways to get the most out of your school year.

-Make a list. Yes, this may sound cliché, but making a list of what you want to accomplish during your year is a great way to get started.  It can be either to join in a contest, join a club, volunteer, stay on top of your studying game or even images of people who inspire you.  Place your list on your door, desk or mirror as a way for self-motivation to achieve your goals.

-Keep your social calendar packed. Most universities send out emails about events that are coming up around campus.  Since we are at the beginning of the year, there are a plethora of events geared towards getting students involved and club booths recruiting new members in your student union or in other places on campus.  Can anyone say “activities fair?”

-Join a study group.  They are not as boring as they sound! Joining a study group is a great way to keep on top of your studies, learn from other students and meet new people.

-Find your study space.  It is best to avoid places where you normally hang out with classmates or places where you relax – example – your apartment/dorm.  If it is a place where you sleep and lounge around in your favorite pajamas, chances are, you are not going to get much done. Find a place where you feel comfortable but focused, whether that is a little nook in the library or in the corner of a coffee shop you just discovered, make sure it is a place where you have complete focus.

-All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, right? Yes, yes it does! Has anyone seen The Shining? Get out and join an intramural with your uni friends!.  It is a great way to stay active as well as blowing off some steam and better yet, it is fun!
