Speedo is taking swimming technology into a new era with the launch of Speedo iQ, a connected smart goggle system designed to give swimmers a deeper understanding of their performance in the pool.
Available from 27 August 2026 for £149, Speedo iQ combines the brand’s Vanquisher 3.0 goggle platform with a removable smart module and companion app, allowing swimmers to review detailed performance data after every session.
What is Speedo iQ?
Designed for everyone from everyday swimmers to elite athletes, Speedo iQ captures data including pace, distance, strokes, breathing, head movement and turn performance.
The system is designed to collect information while the swimmer is in the water, with the data then processed through the companion Speedo iQ app after the session. This allows users to replay elements of their swim, identify patterns and spot areas where technique could be improved.
According to Speedo, the technology can capture performance data across all four competitive swimming strokes, offering a more detailed view of what happens during a swim than traditional tracking devices focused primarily on basic session statistics.
Smart Swim Goggles Built For Training And Race Day
Speedo iQ is built into the latest Vanquisher 3.0 goggles, with the smart technology housed in a removable module designed not to interfere with fit or visibility.
One of the biggest talking points surrounding the new system is its competition credentials. Speedo says the Speedo iQ Track goggles are approved by World Aquatics for competition use, meaning swimmers can potentially use the same connected technology for both training and race day.
World Aquatics Wearable Regulations
World Aquatics maintains a list and approval process for wearable devices used in competition, with athletes required to follow the organisation’s regulations when using approved technology at World Aquatics events.
How Speedo iQ Could Help Swimmers Improve
For competitive swimmers, marginal gains can make a major difference. Speedo iQ aims to help athletes and coaches understand those small details by analysing movements including breathing patterns, head position and turns.
Three-time Olympic gold medallist Adam Peaty said data can be particularly important when athletes are competing for extremely small performance margins.
“Data is absolutely everything, especially when we’re fighting for margins of one, two per cent, but sometimes even less than that.”
The Speedo iQ app is designed to turn that information into accessible insights, helping swimmers review their technique, track progress and identify areas for future training.
A New Chapter For Swimming Technology
The launch represents a major move into connected performance technology for Speedo, a brand that has spent decades developing equipment for competitive and recreational swimmers.
Robert Ashcroft, Senior Vice President and Brand Director at Speedo, said the company sees the new platform as the next stage in its approach to performance innovation.
“For nearly 100 years, Speedo has pushed the boundaries of innovation to help swimmers perform at their very best,” he said. “With Speedo iQ, we’re taking the next major step in that journey.”
Nate Tracy, Vice President of Innovation Design and Future Concepts at Speedo, added that the technology has been designed to work for a wide range of swimmers, from Olympians chasing marginal gains to people simply looking to build confidence in the pool.
How Much Does Speedo iQ Cost?
Speedo iQ is available from 27 August 2026 and retails for £149. The system is available through Speedo’s official website, with six colour options currently listed for the range.
With connected technology becoming increasingly important across modern sport, Speedo iQ could mark an interesting next step for swimmers looking to move beyond simply timing their lengths and instead understand exactly what is happening in the water.
