As ski season kicks off, new research from European ski holiday provider Sunweb has revealed some hilarious — and slightly shocking — slope secrets. According to the survey, 1 in 7 (15%) skiers admitted to wetting themselves on the slopes, proving that excitement (and maybe a few après-ski drinks) can sometimes get the better of even the most seasoned pros.
The survey was conducted online by WALR among 2,502 UK consumers (including 500 skiers) between 23–26 September 2025, adhering to MRS and ESOMAR ethical standards for data collection.
And that’s not all — 1 in 20 (6%) confessed to getting frisky in the snow, while 1 in 100 skiers admitted to kissing their ski instructor. It seems romance is alive and well in the mountains.
With après-ski culture being an essential part of any trip, nearly 17% of skiers said they’ve used the mountain itself as a makeshift loo after one too many drinks.
Jack Bolus, spokesperson for Sunweb, shared:
“At Sunweb, we know the unexpected, unplanned moments make a holiday memorable. Our research shows ski trips are full of these funny moments — the kind you’ll still be talking, and laughing, about for years to come!”
