SHOKZ OPENFIT AIR 2 | THE LIGHTEST OPEN-EAR EARBUDS YET ARE COMING TO THE UK!

Shokz has unveiled the OpenFit Air 2, its lightest and most refined pair of open-ear earbuds to date — combining an ultra-secure ear-hook fit with 36 hours of battery life and AI-powered call clarity, all for £129.

If you’ve been holding out for open-ear earbuds that don’t compromise on comfort, sound quality, or battery life, Shokz’s latest release might be worth the wait. The OpenFit Air 2 launches in the UK on 16 September 2026, arriving in Ice Blue, Black, and White colourways, and priced at £129.

Weighing just 7.2 grams per earbud, the OpenFit Air 2 is the lightest ear-hook design Shokz has ever produced — and it’s aimed squarely at people who live in their running shoes, gym kit, or headsets all day long.

A Featherlight Fit Built for Movement

Shokz has clearly designed the OpenFit Air 2 with all-day wearability in mind. The earbuds use a 0.75mm nickel-titanium alloy frame in the ear hook, which keeps its shape through repeated wear without losing its grip. Combined with soft, skin-friendly materials and an ultra-narrow pod that sits naturally over the ear, the result is a fit that stays secure whether you’re mid-HIIT session or several hours into a work call.

Powerful Sound Without the Bulk

Despite the minimalist design, Shokz says the OpenFit Air 2 doesn’t skimp on audio performance. It’s powered by the brand’s proprietary Bassphere™ dual-driver system, offering output equivalent to a 16mm custom speaker, paired with the OpenBass 2.0 algorithm for deeper, richer low-end. Listeners can fine-tune their sound further through the Shokz app, which includes four preset EQ modes — Standard, Vocal, Bass, and Private — plus two customisable profiles.

Shokz’s DirectPitch Technology also returns here, focusing sound directly at the ear canal to minimise audio leakage — a useful feature for anyone using open-ear buds on public transport or in shared office spaces.

Battery Life and Everyday Practicality

Battery performance is a standout spec on paper: up to 8 hours of continuous listening per charge, and up to 36 hours total with the compact charging case. A 10-minute quick charge delivers roughly 3 hours of playback — enough to cover a commute or a gym session in a pinch.

Elsewhere, the earbuds carry an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance (IP54 for the case), and support multipoint pairing across two devices, along with Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair for quick setup across Android, iOS, and Windows devices. Calls are handled by a dual-microphone system paired with an AI noise-reduction algorithm, designed to keep voices clear in noisy environments.

Where This Fits in the Open-Ear Market

Shokz has held its position as the world’s No.1 open-ear headphone brand by shipment volume for three consecutive years, according to market analyst Omdia. The OpenFit Air 2 looks to build on that lead by undercutting some premium rivals on price while still packing flagship-level features like AI call noise reduction and dual-device pairing.

The Shokz OpenFit Air 2 launches 16 September 2026 in the UK, priced at £129, and will be available via uk.shokz.com and major UK retailers.
