Burger fans have a new reason to head south of the river, as Shake Shack prepares to open its brand-new London Bridge restaurant with 150 free burgers up for grabs.
New York burger institution Shake Shack is officially opening its latest London location on Wednesday 9 September at 12pm, bringing its much-loved burgers, crinkle-cut fries and hand-spun shakes to Hay’s Galleria on Tooley Street.
And if you’re willing to queue, there’s a pretty tasty reward waiting.
First 150 Guests Can Get a Free Burger
To celebrate the opening, the first 150 guests in line will receive their choice of a free ShackBurger® or ‘Shroom Burger.
The celebrations won’t stop at the free food, either. Throughout the opening day, visitors can enjoy live music, a Shake Shack swag cart and a spin-the-wheel activation, with the chance to win exclusive Shack merchandise and vouchers.
So, if you’ve been looking for an excuse to make a trip to London Bridge, this might be it.
Shake Shack Arrives at Hay’s Galleria
The new restaurant is located at Unit 14, Hay’s Galleria, 51 Tooley Street, placing it right in the heart of one of London’s busiest riverside neighbourhoods.
The London Bridge opening marks Shake Shack’s 21st UK location, continuing the American burger brand’s expansion across the country.
The new Shack has been designed to complement the character of Hay’s Galleria, blending the building’s historic Victorian wharf architecture and exposed brickwork with a brighter, contemporary riverside aesthetic.
Artwork throughout the restaurant has been created by illustrator Tess Smith-Roberts, taking inspiration from the energy of London Bridge and its creative community.
Her illustrations reference some of the area’s best-known landmarks, including Borough Market, London Bridge Station and the River Thames, giving the new restaurant a distinctly local feel.
What’s on the Shake Shack Menu?
Naturally, the new London Bridge Shack will serve many of the brand’s signature favourites.
Expect the classic ShackBurger, Crinkle-Cut Fries, Chicken Shack, Flat-Top Dogs and Shake Shack’s famous hand-spun shakes.
The menu also includes the vegetarian ‘Shroom Burger, while Shake Shack’s wider UK menu features everything from Chicken Bites and Cheese Fries to its Double ShackBurger and seasonal creations.
If you’re new to the brand, the ShackBurger is a good place to start. The classic cheeseburger is made with Aberdeen Angus beef, lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce, served in a toasted potato bun.
You can explore the full Shake Shack UK menu before making the trip.
A New Spot for London Bridge Foodies
With Borough Market, Tower Bridge and The Shard all nearby, the new Shake Shack is well placed for anyone exploring the area or looking for somewhere to grab lunch or dinner.
It also adds another option to London’s ever-growing burger scene. Verge has previously covered Shake Shack’s expansion across the capital, including the opening of its King’s Cross Station location and the launch of its supersized Big Shack burger.
