Looking at the new line-up for series 10 of Love Island, new research reveals Ruchee Gurung and Tyrique Hyde are most likely OG islanders to take home this year’s crown – but history suggests fans are yet to see the eventual winners.

The Paddy Power Games study looked at the characteristics and behaviours of all previous winners of the ITV show, finding Ruchee and Tyrique most closely match the description of a typical male and female winner… at least on paper.

The Irish gaming brand looked at multiple variables, such as average age and profession of previous winners, as well as the number of partners and Casa Amor betrayals.

Based on the research, 24-year-old Ruchee is the most likely female victor, thanks to her age, hair colour and her job as a beautician – making her an almost perfect match.

Tyrique Hyde closely fits the typical male winner’s make-up, with the Essex-born, brunette semi-pro footballer closely resembling a typical Love Island champ.

The Love Island girl with the best chance of winning:

Age 24
Occupation Fashion and beauty
Hair colour Brunette
Enter the villa Week 2
Number of villa partners 2
Casa Amor Stay with partner
Hometown London

The Love Island boy with the best chance of winning:

Age 23
Occupation Sport, office job or manual labour
Hair colour Brunette
Enter the villa Week 2
Number of villa partners 2
Casa Amor Stay with partner
Hometown Essex

But the recipe for success also depends on when islanders arrive in the villa, and whether they ‘move mad’ during their time on the show.

On average, both male and female winners arrive as week two bombshells, suggesting those heading in after the original line-up will stand a better chance of claiming the £50,000 prize. But, with Ruchee and Tyrique matching most of the ‘winning’ characteristics, love hopefuls should still consider pulling them for a chat.

Before this year’s winter series, a male islander would usually do well to stick to their first partner, but with Kai Fagan bucking the trend – securing victory after coupling with five different women – the reigning champion has now raised the average number of villa partners to two.

Similarly, history suggests the girls might want to look to turn their heads once after their initial pairing.

But recoupling during Casa Amor is a bad idea if you’re looking for success on the show. Just three past 18 winners (Kem Cetinay, Amber Gill and Kai Fagan) won after switching partner during the dreaded relationship test.
