The new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story took us by surprise, as well as the entire planet, and we could not help but get a chill of excitement down our spines. With all the Star Wars hype since the latest release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens last year, the release of this recent teaser trailer made us go a little fan crazy! (Okay maybe not a little, but a lot).
The trailer starts off with Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) being escorted in handcuffs whilst a list of convictions are being listed off by what appears to be some form of legal counsel, only to appear before Mon Mothma. For you die hard fans, you will remember Mon Mothma from Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith wearing her signature look. “This is a rebellion, isn’t it? I rebel” calmly says Jyn Erso to Mothma, where we get an idea where the trailer and film are headed.
The beginning of the trailer gives us many hints as to when the film is taking place and the overall tone. For example, the Yavin 4 Base – how nostalgic can it get, let alone the classic droids, X-Wing in the hanger in the first few seconds of the trailer and AT-ATs.  Aaaannndd oh, I don’t know, the Death Star and multiple Star Destroyers! If you are a little confused as to where Rogue One: A Star Wars Story falls in accordance to the Star Wars Trilogy, it takes place before A New Hope, just to clear that up.
But we must also note that in the teaser, there are no lightsabers or recognizable Jedi’s. The whole feel brings war into Star Wars as we get a look of the ground troops behind the famous characters of Luck Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and Yoda.
With the trailer indicating a new look into The Rebellion apart from the Skywalker family drama story, fans are finally, from the looks of it, getting more of a view of all the works and it is undoubtedly refreshing. The trailer, in all it’s one minute and fifty-seven seconds of glory, shows a lot of action, and setting a tone of espionage and rebellion, leaving us to question what we can fully expect from the characters. But what can we expect, this is a teaser trailer after all?
