NBA Sundays: Phoenix Suns @ Atlanta Hawks

This week’s BT Sport Sunday night game features the Phoenix Suns visiting the Atlanta Hawks

Season so far:

Phoenix Suns (19-44)

The Suns snapped a 10 game losing streak with a win in Memphis last time out and will now look to make it 2 road wins in a row on Sunday night.

This has been a very forgettable season for the Suns and 2018 has been very hard to watch. They are ranked 30th in the NBA in points allowed at 113.0 points per game. Draft position right now is the most important thing and I am sure a lot of fans will be glad when the buzzer sounds at the end of game 82.

Points: Devin Booker 24.9

Rebounds: Tyson Chandler 9.5

Assists: Devin Booker 4.8

Atlanta Hawks (19-43)

The Hawks snapped a 4 game losing streak after holding off a late charge last time out from the Indiana Pacers.

Coming into this season I was excited to see John Collins and he for me was going to be one of those rookies that saw plenty of playing time. Dennis Schroder has been the leader of this team and it looks very different from the playoff team that we saw not so long ago with Al Horford. This is a team that is looking to build for the future and it will be interesting to see where they are in terms of their rebuild.

Points: Dennis Schroder 19.3

Rebounds: Dewayne Dedmon 7.4

Assists: Dennis Schroder 6.1

Kevin Brooker (Suns)

Devin had a productive February averaging 27.9 points per game and has been the main scoring threat all season long for the Suns. Whilst not shooting the ball that well during the month, which coincided with the 10 game skid the team had during the month, he still remains the main threat for this team.

John Collins (Hawks)

John is in his rookie campaign and adjusting all the time to the NBA. His minutes are going up which is leading to increased production and that should continue the rest of the season. Whilst other players struggled around him in February, he was one of the bright spots on the team during the team’s recent struggles.

Projected Starting Lineups:

Phoenix Suns

  • TJ Warren (F)
  • Dragan Bender (F)
  • Tyson Chandler (C)
  • Devin Booker (G)
  • Elfrid Payton (G)

Atlanta Hawks

  • John Collins (F)
  • Taurean Prince (F)
  • Dewayne Dedmon (C)
  • Kent Bazemore (G)
  • Dennis Schroder (G)

Final Thoughts:

Whilst this isn’t the Warriors vs Cavaliers, this should still be a fun game to watch and enjoy on a Sunday night. Forget the bad weather, grab a drink and watch the NBA.
