This week’s BT Sport Sunday night game features the Cleveland Cavaliers visiting the Boston Celtics and next chapter in the Kyrie vs LeBron saga.
Season so far:
The Celtics lost their free agent signing Gordon Hayward just minutes into the NBA season but following a 2 game losing streak to start the season they put together a 16 game winning streak and the loss of their star was quickly forgotten. Despite some struggles in mid-December and parts of January, the Celtics appear to be headed to the best record in the Eastern Conference. They have signed Greg Monroe as a big for their upcoming playoff run.
The Cavaliers will step into this contest on Sunday looking very different as they made multiple moves at the deadline:
Rodney Hood, George Hill, Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance
Isaiah Thomas, Derrick Rose, Jae Crowder, Dwyane Wade, Iman Shumpert, Channing Frye
With many new faces it will be interesting to see how they mesh together over the next 5-10 games as they prepare for the playoffs. Recent struggles has led them to making these moves, not only for this season but looking ahead if LeBron decides Cleveland isn’t where he wants to be next season. They also managed to keep that Nets pick as well. Thumbs up from me at the deadline.
Kyrie Irving (Celtics)
Kyrie has just come back from missing 3 games and wasn’t really missed as the Celtics were able to win those 3 games at home. That being said, the Celtics need their superstar which the Cavs now appear to have pretty much given away last summer depending on what comes of that Nets pick. Kyrie’s numbers are up across the board and that was to be expected with taking on the role with the Celtics.
LeBron James (Cavs)
LeBron is having one of his most efficient offensive season’s but has struggled on the defensive end which has led to some damaging losses for the Cavs. In the best game of the week so far, he blocked Jimmy Butler’s shot and then knocked down the game winner to lead the Cavs over a very talented Timberwolves team.
The Cavs have so many new faces and it is very difficult to evaluate how they will do in this one. The Cavs might start to have fun again as they haven’t enjoyed games lately. The Celtics on the other hand continue to lead the Eastern Conference and should win this one in a thriller for NBA fans.
