MEET THE OWENS: PRIME VIDEO UNVEILS TRAILER FOR MICHAEL OWEN FAMILY DOCUSERIES AHEAD OF AUGUST PREMIERE!

Football fans and documentary lovers have a new series to add to their watchlist as Prime Video has officially revealed the first trailer and images for Meet the Owens, a brand-new six-part docuseries following the life of former England striker Michael Owen and his family.

Premiering exclusively on 28 August 2026, the series offers an unprecedented look inside the Owen household as they balance family life, elite horse racing and ambitious personal careers.

A Behind-The-Scenes Look At The Owen Family

After retiring from a glittering football career that saw him win the prestigious Ballon d’Or and represent England on the international stage, Michael Owen has dedicated himself to building a successful horse racing operation.

However, Meet the Owens reveals that life away from football is just as demanding.

Over six episodes, viewers will follow Michael and his wife Louise Owen as they navigate a hectic family life while managing their racing business during one of its most challenging periods.

Meet The Owen Children

The documentary also shines a spotlight on each of the Owen children and the paths they’re forging:

  • Gemma Owen, already known as a television presenter and accomplished equestrian, is pursuing a new challenge as she trains to compete at Glorious Goodwood while balancing a growing media career.
  • James Owen, 20, hopes to join the family horse racing business despite living with a degenerative eye condition.
  • Emily Owen, 18, is looking to break family tradition by becoming the first Owen to attend university.
  • Youngest daughter Jessica Owen dreams of representing Great Britain as an Olympic showjumper.

Alongside the sporting ambitions and business pressures, the series promises plenty of candid family moments as Michael and Louise prepare for life as empty nesters.

Award-Winning Production Team

Meet the Owens is produced by Whisper, the production company behind acclaimed documentaries including Sven and Built in Birmingham: Brady & The Blues.

The series is directed by Emmy Award nominee Chris Wallwork, with producers including Chris Grubb, Drew Masters, Will Yapp, Christian Cerami and Mark Cole, alongside Whisper co-founders Jake Humphrey and Sunil Patel.

The creative team has previously worked on productions such as Clarkson’s Farm, Ben Stokes: Phoenix from the Ashes and Molly-Mae: Behind It All, suggesting viewers can expect an intimate and cinematic look behind the scenes.

When Is Meet The Owens Released?

All six episodes of Meet the Owens will be available to stream exclusively on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland from 28 August 2026. Prime members will be able to watch the complete series at no additional cost.

The documentary joins a growing slate of UK-produced Prime Video originals, alongside hit series including Clarkson’s Farm, Last One Laughing UK and blockbuster titles such as Reacher, Fallout and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Prime Video has also released the official trailer, offering a first glimpse at the family’s busy home life, the competitive world of horse racing and the personal milestones each member of the Owen family faces throughout the series.

Meet the Owens begins streaming exclusively on Prime Video from 28 August 2026.
