Liverpool International Music Festival’s Academy Announce FREE Workshops

Liverpool International Music Festival’s Academy announce details of its workshops programme; where young people from Merseyside have the unparalleled opportunity to take part in FREE workshops and masterclasses in singing, songwriting, DJ’ing, producing and more.

Facilitating the song-writing workshop on 20 August, Chelcee Grimes, a LIMF Academy associate, has written songs for a number of top international artists including Kylie Minogue and The Saturdays. Alongside Chelcee will be producer and songwriter Ciaron Bell, who has worked with the likes of Wiley, Atomic Kitten and Space. Both will give budding songwriters a unique and honest insight into how to write songs in this extra special workshop.

Running the production workshop on Saturday 22 August is Steve Levine, an award winning music producer who has worked with a long list of A-List artists and bands including Culture Club, The Beach Boys and Ziggy Marley. Steve will work with upcoming producers in his own studio to give practical experience in how to produce records and how to work within a studio session.

The DJ’ing workshop takes place on Friday 21 August and will take place within the exclusive Juice FM studio. Ian Longo is one of Liverpool’s most well-respected DJs. As well as holding down many club residencies and DJing around the world, he also maintains a popular show on the award winning Juice 107.6 FM. In his DJ workshop, Ian will teach basic DJ skills and also a few tricky skills too.

Sense of Sound is an award winning company that specialises in vocal training and in particular singing, they will be at the helm of the singing and vocal coaching workshop on 22 August. Sense of Sound have been behind some of the best young voices that have come out of the city, including the likes of Jetta, Jay Norton and Esco Williams. Two different style sessions are on offer – one for beginners and one for more experienced singers.

Young people between the ages of 13-25 from Merseyside can apply for the workshops via www.limfestival.com. The deadline is Tuesday 18 August at 1pm. A limited number of spaces are available and winners will be selected by a panel of industry judges.

As well as the workshops, the Academy will be showcasing some of the top young artists, bands and DJs from the region at LIMF Summer Jam on Sunday 30th and Monday 31st August. The full line up can be seen in the notes below.
