LEGO IDEAS DOWNTON ABBEY SET BRINGS THE CRAWLEY FAMILY HOME TO LIFE IN 4,711 PIECES!

The Crawley family is officially getting the LEGO treatment, as the LEGO Group has unveiled its first-ever LEGO Ideas Downton Abbey set.

Inspired by the much-loved television series and films, the new LEGO Ideas Downton Abbey (21373) recreates the iconic stately home in an impressive 4,711-piece build, complete with 13 familiar characters, intricate period details and plenty of hidden Easter eggs for eagle-eyed fans to discover.

Based on Highclere Castle, the real-life Hampshire estate used as the setting for Downton Abbey, the set has been designed specifically for adult builders and offers a detailed recreation of life both upstairs and downstairs.

Step Inside LEGO Ideas Downton Abbey

The new set allows fans to recreate some of the most recognisable spaces from the Downton Abbey estate.

The upper level features the grand dining room, main hall and library, while lifting away the top section reveals the world below stairs, including the kitchen, servants’ hall and Mr Carson’s office.

This modular design is one of the set’s biggest attractions, allowing builders to explore the different sides of Edwardian household life while displaying the sprawling building as a standalone piece.

The finished model measures more than 30cm high, 44cm wide and 16cm deep, making it a substantial display piece for a shelf, desk or dedicated LEGO collection.

The set joins the growing range of pop-culture builds in the LEGO Ideas collection. Fans can also check out our previous coverage of the LEGO Ideas The X-Files set, which similarly transformed a beloved television franchise into a detailed brick-built model.

13 Downton Abbey Characters Join the Build

Of course, no trip to Downton would be complete without its residents.

The LEGO Ideas Downton Abbey set includes 13 minifigures, representing the show’s iconic Season 6 household.

The line-up includes:

  • The Dowager Countess
  • Lord Grantham
  • Lady Grantham
  • Lady Mary
  • Lady Edith
  • Tom Branson
  • Mr Carson
  • Mrs Hughes
  • Mr Bates
  • Anna Bates
  • Thomas Barrow
  • Mrs Patmore
  • Daisy Parker

Each minifigure features double-sided face prints, while additional clothing elements have been created specifically to accommodate characters sitting around the dining table.

That attention to detail helps recreate the formal atmosphere of the Crawley household, while also giving fans plenty of opportunities to stage their own Downton-inspired scenes.

Authentic Edwardian Details Hidden Throughout

The LEGO Group has gone beyond simply recreating the exterior of Downton Abbey, with the set packed with historical touches designed to capture the period in which the story takes place.

Fans will find a combination of candlelight and early electric lighting, reflecting the technological transition taking place during the Edwardian era.

The kitchen features an early electric mixer, while Mr Carson’s office contains a candlestick telephone inspired by designs from the 1910s and 1920s.

Elsewhere, builders can discover historical portraits, period dining etiquette and a servants’ hall dining table arranged according to household rank.

The exterior is completed by ornate architectural details, along with the property’s distinctive cedar tree and bench.

Can You Spot the LEGO Easter Eggs?

As with many LEGO Ideas sets, the Downton Abbey build includes several details that reward fans who take the time to look closely.

Among the hidden references is a servants’ bell board featuring a playful “LEGO room” label.

Newspapers scattered throughout the model also feature the initials “SV”, referencing fan designer Sebastian Veselka, whose original idea inspired the official set.

There’s even a heart-shaped tree base, offering a subtle nod to the romantic moments that have played such an important role throughout the Downton Abbey story.

From Fan Idea to Official LEGO Set

The Downton Abbey model began life as a fan-created concept submitted to the LEGO Ideas platform by Czech fan designer Sebastian Veselka, known on the platform as BRO3.

LEGO Ideas gives fans the opportunity to submit their own product concepts, with successful ideas gaining community support before potentially being selected by LEGO for official production.

Veselka’s Downton Abbey concept reached 10,000 supporters in just three months, ultimately paving the way for it to become a fully realised LEGO set.

Speaking about the project, Veselka said rebuilding Downton Abbey combined his love of British architecture, memories of watching the series with his family and his fascination with the atmosphere of the 1920s.

He added that seeing the project reach 10,000 supporters was “incredible” and that he was excited for fans to “step inside the Crawley family’s iconic home in LEGO brick form.”
