The LEGO Group and Toei Animation have teamed up for the first time to bring Dragon Ball to LEGO bricks, with the 1,764-piece Shenron & Goku set launching in November 2026.
The Dragon Balls have been gathered, Shenron has been summoned, and now one of anime’s most recognisable franchises is finally making its debut in LEGO form.
The LEGO Group and Toei Animation have announced a brand-new partnership bringing Dragon Ball into the LEGO portfolio for the first time. The collaboration kicks off with the new LEGO Icons Dragon Ball Shenron & Goku (11390) set, with further Dragon Ball products planned for 2027 and beyond.
The announcement marks a major crossover between two hugely recognisable entertainment brands, combining the world of Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball with LEGO’s long-running collection of pop-culture-inspired building sets.
Fans will be able to get their hands on the new set through LEGO Insiders Early Access from 1 November 2026, before it becomes available to everyone from 4 November 2026.
Meet the LEGO Icons Dragon Ball Shenron & Goku Set!
The first set in the new collaboration contains 1,764 pieces and recreates one of the most recognisable elements of the original Dragon Ball series: the summoning of the mighty Shenron.
At the centre of the display is Kid Goku riding his Kintoun, with Shenron rising dramatically from the seven Dragon Balls below.
The finished model measures more than 32cm high, 24cm long and 26cm wide, making it a sizeable display piece designed with adult builders and collectors in mind.
The set has also been given an 18+ age rating, putting it firmly into LEGO’s Icons range of more detailed builds aimed at experienced builders and fans looking for something to display once construction is complete.
You can explore more of LEGO’s adult-focused Icons collection through the official LEGO Icons range.
Shenron Comes to Life in LEGO Form!
According to the LEGO Group, its designers studied animation frames and classic Dragon Ball poses while developing the model, experimenting with different building techniques and structural solutions to capture Shenron’s distinctive appearance.
The resulting build focuses on the dragon’s long, looping body, flowing scales and sculpted details, giving Shenron a dramatic presence above the Dragon Balls.
Rather than simply creating a static dragon figure, the set is designed to recreate the feeling of Shenron being summoned.
Kid Goku sits at the heart of the scene on his Kintoun, with the character able to be detached and repositioned. This gives builders the opportunity to create different display and storytelling combinations.
The seven Dragon Balls are also represented at the base of the model using seven 2×2 bricks, tying the entire display back to one of the central pieces of mythology from the Dragon Ball universe.
The Original Dragon Ball Is the Inspiration!
While Dragon Ball has expanded considerably over the decades through sequels, films, games and merchandise, this first LEGO set takes its inspiration from the original Dragon Ball episodic series.
Toei Animation’s official catalogue describes the original series as following a young Goku and his friends as they search the world for the mysterious Dragon Balls, which can grant a wish when all seven are brought together.
That makes the Shenron & Goku set a particularly fitting starting point for the LEGO and Dragon Ball partnership, bringing together Goku’s earliest adventures and the mythology surrounding the seven Dragon Balls.
The wider franchise has since grown to encompass series including Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Z Kai, Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball DAIMA, alongside films, games, trading cards and an enormous range of licensed merchandise.
You can find out more about the franchise through Toei Animation’s official Dragon Ball catalogue.
LEGO Builder App Adds a Digital Helping Hand!
For anyone tackling all 1,764 pieces, LEGO’s Builder app will also be available to help with the construction process.
The app provides detailed 3D digital instructions, allowing builders to zoom in, rotate the model and keep track of their progress as Shenron gradually takes shape.
Given the size and structure of the finished model, the digital guidance could be particularly useful when working through some of the more complex sections of the build.
LEGO and Toei Animation Promise More Dragon Ball Sets!
The Shenron & Goku set isn’t being positioned as a one-off.
The LEGO Group and Toei Animation have confirmed that their partnership will continue into 2027, with both companies planning to explore more of the action, characters and adventures of the Dragon Ball universe through LEGO products.
Federico Begher, Senior Vice President of Product, Marketing and Development at the LEGO Group, described the new set as “just the beginning”, highlighting the opportunity to give fans a new way to experience the stories and characters they already love.
Masayuki Endo, President and CEO of Toei Animation Inc., similarly described the first release as a celebration of the original Dragon Ball series and teased further LEGO Dragon Ball products to come.
The announcement also arrives during an important period for the wider franchise. Toei Animation has announced that Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, an enhanced edition of Dragon Ball Super, is set to begin in autumn 2026, featuring revised and newly added footage alongside changes to the presentation and storytelling.
