Available for one day only on 30th July, the dessert hotspot will be baking up a Popcorn Basque Cheesecake, available only through pre-order, and in very limited numbers.
The special edition pairs the buttery, lightly salted flavour of freshly popped popcorn with La Maritxu’s signature Basque cheesecake, known for its caramelised exterior and irresistibly creamy centre. Staying true to the traditional baking method that has made Basque cheesecake such a favourite, the new flavour offers a playful twist while preserving the rich texture and distinctive finish that fans can’t get enough of. Just 200 cheesecakes will be made, making this one of La Maritxu’s most exclusive releases to date.
The Popcorn Basque Cheesecake will be available in a medium size for £17, with pre-orders now open ahead of National Cheesecake Day. Every cheesecake must be reserved in advance through La Maritxu’s website before being collected on 30th July from one of the bakery’s London locations, including Kingly Court, Connaught Village, Greenwich, and Coal Drops Yard.
La Maritxu has been playing a key role in the Basque cheesekcake fever that has overtaken London since its opening in 2021. The speciality bakery, founded by husband-and-wife team Ignacio and Lucia, uses a family recipe passed down through generations, baking every cheesecake fresh daily using traditional techniques.
