Former England defender Joleon Lescott has officially kicked off this year’s Kellogg’s Football Camps, welcoming the first wave of young players with a memorable football-inspired signing ceremony as more than 39,000 free places become available across the UK this summer.
Following a summer packed with major football action, Kellogg’s has teamed up once again with the English Football League (EFL), Manchester City FC, Celtic FC, and Rangers FC to encourage children to get active through football during the school holidays.
Parents can now claim one of thousands of FREE places for children aged 5–15 at 73 participating clubs nationwide.
Joleon Lescott Gives Young Footballers a Professional Welcome
To celebrate the launch, former England international and Premier League winner Joleon Lescott surprised children attending a London-based Kellogg’s Football Camp with a signing ceremony inspired by the transfer unveilings seen across professional football.
Young players were invited to officially “sign” for Team Kellogg’s, pose for the traditional handshake photo, and receive their own Team Kellogg’s shirt and certificate before heading out onto the pitch.
Lescott then joined the children for coaching drills and football challenges, sharing skills and advice from his own journey through grassroots football to the Premier League and England’s national team.
Football Continues to Inspire Children Across the UK
New research commissioned by Kellogg’s found that 74% of parents believe major sporting events inspire their children to become more active.
The study also highlights the growing importance of accessible activities during the school holidays:
- 30% of parents rely on free activities during school breaks.
- 25% say holiday camps help keep children active.
- 19% depend on sports clubs for affordable activities.
With the cost of family entertainment remaining a concern for many households, initiatives such as Kellogg’s Football Camps aim to make organised sport more accessible.
Over 39,000 Free Football Camp Places Available
Now entering its third year, Kellogg’s Football Camps will provide more than 39,000 free places across 73 football clubs throughout the UK.
Sessions are delivered by FA-qualified coaches, giving children the opportunity to:
- Improve their football skills
- Build confidence
- Stay active during the summer holidays
- Make new friends
- Experience structured coaching in a fun environment
Whether children are taking their first steps into football or already dream of playing professionally, the camps are designed to be welcoming for a wide range of abilities.

Speaking at the launch event, Lescott said:
“After such a great summer of sport and ahead of the new season it’s brilliant to see so many of the next generation excited to get out on the pitch themselves.”
He added:
“Every football journey starts somewhere. Mine began by simply getting out there and playing, so hopefully today has inspired a few more children to put on their boots this summer. Whether they’re dreaming of playing at the highest level or just looking to have fun with their mates and learn new skills, that’s what Kellogg’s Football Camps are all about.”

Families can claim a free place by purchasing a promotional Kellogg’s cereal pack, scanning the QR code found on the packaging, and registering online.
