JD REVEALS THE MOST SOUGHT-AFTER NIKES AHEAD OF ‘AIR MAX DAY’

26 March celebrates Nike’s annual ‘Air Max Day’ revealing the nation’s most beloved Air Max trainers that are defining UK culture in 2023.

Analysing average Google searches for ‘Air Max’ across the UK from the past year, JD, the leading retailer for youth fashion and sports brands, reveals the Air Max 95, tops the UK charts, searched for 29% of the time, followed by Air Max 90, appearing in 19.6% of searches.

 

The nation is divided though when it comes to third place with the Air Max 97 and Vapormax both being searched 13.1% of the time.

 

More than just a pair of trainers, ‘Air Max Day’ is a yearly celebration, that’s honours the development of the Nike Air Max technology, which started 36 years ago, when Tinker Hatfield cut open the Air Max 1s midsole, showing the visible Max Air unit we’ve loved for generations.

AIR MAX 90 (*19.6% of Air Max searches)

The Air Max 90s have been revered by athletes and sneakerheads since their inception 25 years ago. The Air Max 90s takes second place in the Air Max family within the UK, with the shoe being searched 19.6% of the time. The Air Max 90 is also the front runner in Bristol, making up 29% of Air Max searches, and second place in Manchester with 17.5% of Air Max searches.

AIR MAX 97 (*13.1% of Air Max searches)

Futuristic in its look, the Air Max 97’s stand-out shape is said to be inspired by Japanese bullet trains. The Air Max 97s takes joint third place on the Air Max list within the UK, with the shoe being searched 13.1% of the time. The Air Max 97 is also most prevalent in Oxford, making up 17% of Air Max searches, and third place in Manchester with 12.5% of Air Max searches.

The Vapormax is another example of Nike evolving and pushing the design limits in the Air Max family. The Vapormax is in joint 3rdplace with the Air Max 97 on the air max list within the UK, with the shoe being searched 13.1% of the time. The Vapormax is also most celebrated in Hull, making up 28% of air Max searches in that area alone.
