IS THE OG GOATEE MAKING A COMEBACK?

Royal Philips has revealed that millions of Brits are ‘stuck in a rut’ when it comes to their facial hair styles, with the average man having had the same look for 10 years.

It seems like our lack of adventure in the grooming department is down to our laziness – with 2 in 5 Brits claiming that they stick with the same look just because it’s quick and easy. Our laziness extends down to maintaining good hygiene practices, with almost one quarter of men admitting to using the same razor to shave their private parts as they do their face (22%).

However, there is hope for those who feel like they’re stuck in grooming groundhog day as almost half of Brits want to change their style, but simply don’t know how to go about it (46%). Many of these men may want to change their look but are reluctant to do so because they fear what their partner   will say – with 10% of Brits convinced their partner would finish with them if they changed their look.

One third of men commented that they don’t switch up their look as they don’t have the right tools or products to be able to do so (33%). To help with this, Philips is launching the new OneBlade 360, an innovative new grooming tool that contains a 360 blade that can flex in all directions and easily adjusts to every curve and contour of your face – ensuring constant skin contact so you can trim, edge and shave any length of hair more effortlessly than ever. This means convenience-loving Brits can use just this one tool to achieve whatever their unique personal style may be.

Philips has teamed up with television personality Pete Wicks who, as part of the campaign, shaved off his signature beard to try out some alternative looks with the OneBlade 360 and inspire his followers to have the confidence to do the same and try out a new look.

“I’ve had the same look for years now. When I was younger, I used to try out all sorts of styles including a questionable goatee and a load of different moustaches, but since I’ve been in the public eye people have got used to seeing me with one look. I’ve decided it’s finally time to get out of this rut and get myself and other people to mix things up with their facial hair using the iconic Philips OneBlade 360.”

Pete’s not the only celebrity with an iconic look, with Brits voting Freddie Mercury (14%), Elvis (14%) and Tom Selleck aka Richard from Friends (13%) as having the most iconic facial hairstyles of all time.

And when it comes to which beard styles the nation is pining for a comeback, the iconic goatee (19%), Zappa (14%) and Van Dyke (12%) beards were named top of the trim. We know that Brits love their facial hair.

Amy Boxall, Male Grooming Marketing Lead at Royal Philips, who commissioned the research, said: “It’s natural to be nervous of change, so it’s no surprise that people can get stuck in a rut and stick to what they know when it comes to their grooming routine, and it’s clear with this research that not having the right tools and products is a big barrier to feeling confident in trying a new style. This is where the new Philips OneBlade 360 comes in, as the easy-to-use styling tool that gives groomers the power to express their style with fewer passes and greater comfort.”
