Get Your Glow On: Skincare Edition

With the summer months upon us, anything on our face in the heat can feel irritating and greasy-feeling. We want that ‘glow from within’ look instead of glowing from sweating in the heat look, and the best part about it is that it’s not hard to achieve!

Stay hydrated

You might think that hydration doesn’t apply to you if you have oily skin or that hydration only applies to you if you have dry skin. You keep reaching for your rose face cream to try and combat it, but what if we told you that we all need hydration, no matter our skin type?

What is my skin type? 

Whether you have dry, oily, or combination skin types, hydration is something that all skin types need. Chances are, your oily areas exist because of a lack of hydration, as your skin overproduces sebum to compensate for that lack. 

Ensuring you know your skin type will help you look for products. It will mean that all areas of your face are hydrated, helping to combat oiliness and ensure that your skin has that healthy, plump glow without any dry patches or dull areas.

Hyaluronic acid is your new best friend

1. Cleansing

It all starts with a good cleanser: a gentle one in the morning and evening is a great way to start your routine.

Ingredients such as soy protein and cucumber extract work hand in hand to cleanse your skin and eliminate the day’s fatigue and will simultaneously hydrate and soothe your skin without feeling dry or tight. Choose a gentle cleanser that doesn’t strip your skin’s natural oils; avoid foaming cleansers, as they can be very drying.

Don’t overdo it

One thing worth noting is to not overdo it with exfoliation, which is why we recommend doing it weekly. 

Over-exfoliating can actually inflame or irritate your skin. Instead, look out for a gentle exfoliator with hydrating properties so that it does not strip your skin of moisture and leaves it feeling cleansed and refreshed. And remember to moisturise after exfoliating to combat any residual dryness.
