Have you heard it yet?

Possibly the most talked about 7 tracks in the last 24 hours! The long-awaited album from Mr Kanye West was released. Entitled Ye the album comprises of just 7 songs and is impactful and intelligent to say the least.

The lyrics are thought-provoking and well delivered with the opening track “I thought about killing you” almost an explanation to his behaviour and what appears to be his disclosure of suffering with bipolar. I thinks it is safe to say we’ve had our suspicions and perhaps this will prove to be the new trend for accepting and discussing our suffering with mental health. Is he a good advocate for mental health? That is yet to be desired….

If like me you are an old school Kanye fan and long for the sounds of his original album The College drop-out you will, I think be pleasantly surprised by some of the softer old school samples thrown in reminiscent of a New Orleans Jazz cafe with songs like “Ghost Town”

The album will inevitably be highly discussed and divide the masses I’m sure, for me I can’t say I’m an instant fan. Perhaps it will grow on me? However I can fully appreciate the creative process involved here and understand the intelligence behind this record! For me it feels like a self-help album, a form of therapy for Kanye which can only be a good thing for a man who seems so publicly lost and misunderstood.
Whatever your opinion on the album one thing remains in that Mr Kanye West is an iconic character in the 21st century and perhaps this album has laid him most bare!
